My uncle used to shoot rabbits then bring them round.
Mum would always make scrummy Rabbit Pie with them.
Pie was just: cook the rabbit with in gravy and chunky carrots; line a pie dish with pastry pour the rabbit/gravy/carrot in; put a pie lid on it. Bake for however long pies like that take.
Always served it with boiled spuds. Gorgeous!0 -

by all accounts its the length aof the leg.. and something to do with the kidneys....
the kidneys in a rabbit in in a line ... and kidneys in other animals are next to each other...
when i told my butcher how i have never eaten rabbit because of this.... the guy in the que waiting said i was wrong...... but the butcher told me i was right.....
not being funny but that is why i havent bought rabbit before, as they allways seem to be from abroad.... and i seen some frozen ones from china....:eek: and no offence but i know in countries like that they eat cats.... and dogs....:eek:Work to live= not live to work0 -

This might be helpful, and will give you an idea of what your bunny should look like. We eat it a lot. I generally stew it long and slow in cider. The addition of lardons and little onions are a good idea, and the mustard sauce that Champys mentions is a French classic well worth trying.
How much is your butcher charging for a rabbit ?0 -

i think they sais it was £3. or £3 ish.
that sound very reasonable to me ...but i dont know.... how much are they normally?

£3 is a good price:) My butcher is expensive and he charges £5.0

We eat a lot of rabbit, courtesy of DH
I like to joint it, brown with roughly chopped onion, garlic, carrot, celery, herbs. Add stock and cook until tender. Serve with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
