Years ago the 'in' thing that was always promised to work was drinking a BIG glass of fresh orange juice and castor oil. _pale_
I tried it with my second and to this day (21 years later) I still gag at the memory of the taste.
I had one contraction and that was it. The other pains I had were from the grumbly tummy and the runs I got.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I found that the mere threat of induction got DD moving and she was born at home as planned at 41+6, weighed 7lbs. I think she needed that bit of extra cooking time to get her weight up a bit. DS was born at 41 weeks and weighed 8lbs, but I think that he'd been bigger and lost weight as his skin looked two sizes too big and he put on 30lbs in his first 3 weeks. THey come when they're ready. Oh, and the offer of induction is just that-an offer. If you're not happy with the idea you can just decline.
Have a great birth!

I'm now 41+1 weeks. Went for a sweep on Thursday but midwife couldn't do it as she said the cervix was too thick and posterior. She called the hospital to book induction for Tuesday when I'll be 41 +3 weeks only to be told that they are fully booked for inductions All week! I've now just got to wait and see:( Its so frustrating when you are uncomfortable, not sleeping and totally fed up!!0

I had my only DD at 41+6... they wanted to induce me on the Friday but I refused, agreed to come in on the Monday as I was convinced the baby would come at the weekend. and she did! On Hallowe'en too - how MSE is that? we got out of feeding the neighbourhood with free sweets.:rotfl:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Hugs, and I bet you're desperate to meet the babe. I bet you have tried all the usual things? Curry? Sex? Planning a lovely treat for tomorrow that labour will spoil?!Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
One friend swears by going to a posh furniture shop and sitting on all their sofas, says it's guaranteed to make your waters break
:rotfl: I tried that too, a hotel in town has these very famous antique chairs. I spent hours on them!Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Well, it seemed my sweep did work last week, as I went into labour the next morning, 26th, and DS2 was born after a 4 hour labour. I reckon it was all the walking I'd done to bring him right down. Certainly curry and sex didn't help me!
Good luck to all the ladies who watched their due date pass by without a hint of labour, just appreciate the last few days of painless nipples, and (this might just be me...) being able to eat a whole BIG bar of Galaxy and not feel guilty one bit. Now I just can't bring myself to even buy it!LBM January 2017 £34k will have paid back finally by my DFD May 2021got my first store card on my 18th birthday, never known a life without the grey cloud of debt looming over me. 18yrs and the end is finally in sight 🤩0 -
