As the others have said, there is a huge scope for savings on your outgoings. Your water bill is astronomical - I guess you must live in the south-west!
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

The others above have asked all the questions we need answers to in order to help further so just wanted to send a hug and all our support. Well done for posting. :)
What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!

DFD - WAS: a while ago

NOW - not sure, due to boyfriend going back to uni for masters and now pgce. Worth it in the long run!
Proud to be dealing with my debts!

IMPORTANT NOTE. This thread was deleted and reinstated by me.

PLEASE REMEMBER DEBT FREE WANNABBE IS ABOUT HELPING NOT JUDGING

The abuse team correctly deleted this thread as it descended into a slanging match about benefits. When I realised that was needed, I was quite upset, as I'm more passionate about the good DFW does than any other board in the forum.

After thinking it through, I've decided to reinstate it for two reasons

    i. To help the original poster.
The Original Poster has asked for help, and its not fair that others 'arguments' mean this disappears. It's worth noting, it wasn't the original poster who complained about the thread - it was others, who rightly thought it'd deteriorated.
ii. As a reminder that this board's prime purpose is to help.
The Debt-Free Wannabee board is special. Whilst discussion and debate about MoneySaving are welcome on the Forums in general. Here the prime purpose is help, information and support for people to overcome detbs and problems, whatever their financial situation.
Many people (not specific to this thread) come here upset, depressed, and finding this a place to come to get help, possibly anonymously, when there isn't anywhere else. To judge them that 'i wish i earned as much as you'' or 'you get paid too much benefit' simply isn't what its about. It's about helping people through their debt and money worries.
Whilst often the grass always looks greener, please remember one of the strengths of this forum is the mutual support.
I remember calling radio 5, because a suicidal man who'd gambled himself into debt (listen to it) was being berated for it.... I believe in these circumstances it's more important to help than to judge, and I hope thats what this board is about.
Please bear that in mind before posting, and my apologies to the original poster, dont worry, it wasn't about you - this is one of those things. I hope you'll stay on board and work through the debts
    Martin

PS Remember the DFW slogan "proud to be dealing with my debt"

Thats the problem sometimes. People get so caught up in the petty arguing that can go on in these thread they often forget they started with someones cry for help.

Well Done Martin for seeing the OP plight and reinstating the thread. :)

I would also like to thank the powers that be for putting this thread back on.
I would also like to apologise if any of my posts caused offence, and again I would like to thank all the people who posted advice, it wasnt ignored then and it will not be ignored now. I felt so low last night as I came onto here with my wife to make notes from the help that had been offered but now thanks to Martin I feel like doing cartwheels and I am going to use all my time reducing the outgoings and making things better.
Have you got a job yet?

    NO? Then :shhh:

Does your SOA look any different now? Have the cutbacks made a difference? I hope they have. All the best

You need to look at what exactly you are classing as housekeeping £900 is alot.
    Pocket money for who?
Xmas and birthday money can be reduced.

Look and see where you are wasting money and you can make small changes.

  • Welcome back sir!

Wey, can you give us a bit more info on your debts? Whether they are loans or credit cards, APR's, minimum payments, term of loan, that sort of thing? :)

Now going back to Sky ;) , have you thought about at least reducing your package? Getting rid of say the movie channels if you have them?

Perhaps you can post an updated SOA with your new outgoings? :)

how are you getting on cutting back on your grocery / housekeeping bill? have you had chance to have a look at the cutting back old style board?

if one of the reasons your bill is so high because you or family members have special dietary needs then there are still things you can do to cutback - let me know if this is the case and i will suggest what and how where i can.

i think the suggestions to batch cook meals are a really good one if you have enough freezer space. eg - if you buy a chicken you can boil up the carcus and giblets to make lots of stock that you can freeze.....also make a huge pot of stem and freeze half of it etc.

for cleaning stuff i have started using stardrops for most things as it's really cheap but does a wonderful job.
