I had someone from Vodafone Retentions today tell me that Vodafone are the fastest network because only they offer 7.2mbps whereas all other networks are 3.6mpbs. I think this imight be true, but I think all the other networks are in the process of upgrading (eg. the 80's style tv adverts for "3" where they are boosting their network).
anyway since i myself have got on loads of occassions download speeds of 5400kbps, the information given to you was factually wrong that networks other than vodafone cant do speeds more than 3600kbps.
apart from the speed on a single mast, have you actually looked into who has the most 3g masts in the UK???? i am not talking about any type of mast as the 2g masts give much much lower speeds. i think three will by the year end have 12000 3g masts much higher than the 3g masts of any other operator in the uk. majority of the masts of other operators are of the other types as far as my reading on this topic goes. if i am wrong please give me links to factual information so that i can update myself on this issue.
edit: have a look at this link for 3g coverage maps (i am not talking 2g maps as anyone with a smartphone will be stuffed when on 2g) http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/0,39029453,49302921-5,00.htm this map is for 2009 3g statistics from ofcom. ofcom is now not publishing all data as some networks are in a legal fight to prevent this data getting out! btw three network in jan 2010 had more than 10,000 masts for 3g and they will have 2000 more by the year end, while orange had 7500 thats why they lost the ASA case. other networks are lagging behind for 3g networks infrastructure.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Many thanks for all the replies. I was just wondering, does anyone know if T-Mobile and 3 still share networks? If so should this in theory mean that T-Mobile coverage should be better?
Thanks,

I just spoke to T-Mobile and the operator offered to reduce the £15 a month SIM only contract to £10 a month! Although she also said that the data cap is 3GB for SIM only and that there are no speed caps - think she might be telling porkies. Maybe I should ask for it in writing before going ahead.

These are the speeds i get with T-Mobile on the £15 a month sim only package with internet booster.0

the speeds you have given above in the screen shot seem very low to me compared to what i get even on my bad days on three network. i have never got less than 2400mbps when on 3g network of three. sometimes when i am on a roaming network then speeds are slower, just like when i am on gprs when roaming.
just now did the speedtest and on wifi i got 4126kbps download speeds and 583 kbps upload speeds. thats 10 times faster upload speeds that i get on three compared to your network!!!! and i get even faster speeds often on downloads.
on 3g connection got 3122 kbps downloads and 1648 kbps upload speeds.
the xtreme speedtest apps usually gives slightly slower speeds compared to the other speed test app operated by ookla in my experience, probably related to different servers and latency period i guess.
is your phone rooted. is that how you got the screen shot or have you downloaded and used the sdk method for getting screenshots without rooting the phone???? just curious.
ps: i noted from your screenshot that the test was only 44% complete btw. plus the other speedtest app is free of ads unlike the one you are using.bubblesmoney :hello:0
