  • Ours came in at around £13k ish and around £3k of that came from our respective parents. We weren't extravagant, I simply have a huge family and the guest list ran to about 170!

Ours will be between 13k & 15k - we were given £10k from both sets of parents, plus my Mum wants to buy my dress too. Because of this we are having a big family do and we're happy to do this. I think if we were paying ourselves we'd have to be a lot more MSE, and it would be a quiet Friday ceremony at the registry office followed by a restuarant reception with friends and close family only. Am very impressed by all your bargain hunting!

  • My boyfriends dad has just got re-married and managed to do everything for £600 - was a real struggle though, everything costs so much these days!

Also, for anyone on a tiny budget in the Hull/East Yorkshire area I do wedding photography for £200 which includes a DVD of all your images to print as you wish :D

Hope this helps! good luck everyone :)

We spent around £6000, got married in Cyprus, so a family holiday with spending money etc is included in that, as well as my dress, suits for the boys, a pricey but lovely meal after the ceremony for 8 of us etc and we had a party for about 150 people when we came home, could probably have done it cheaper, but could also have done it way more expensive, lol
  • Ours was originally £5000, then my parents decided to add rather a lot of people to the guest list & it has had to jump to about £8000. My parents are paying the difference though & we are trying desperately to get the cost of the hotel/food etc down so it may be more like £7000... I hope!
  • I am aiming to be in the 15k mark.. I was hoping to be able to do it on around 10k... But it is not going to be achieavable....

We are getting married in June 2012 so are saving already... I have my spreadsheet with prices of things i have found & what i want to spend.. Im hoping that by getting things as i go along & looking in the sales i will save myself some money....

We are having to pay for it all ourselves. So have budgeted for what we can afford & what is within our means...

As long as we dont start getting to the point where it has to go on credit cards or we need to get a loan out, which i know some peple have had to do (crazy) then i will be happy. I dont want to go down that route either.....

I got married last september, had a fantastic day with everything that was important to us and didn't really miss out on anything (bespoke rings, expensive dress&veil, cooked food, gorgeous venue, cars, photographer, videography etc).

Aimed for £5k, my budgetting suggested £5,200 and managed to pull it all in at £4,200 in the end! :D

If anyone wants ideas or tips gimme a shout :)

  • as little as is possible! lol we are both students and have very little money to start with plus our parents assure us they arent in a position to finances anything for us! so 100% of this will be out of our pockets. We havent started the real planning yet (but will have done after tonight :D) but we were just thinking of doing it for as little as possible and see how it goes.

got £5000 from her parents, my mum says she will give money but doesn't how much or when, honeymoon and all deposits we've paid ourselves
    Hiya,
Just wanted to say 2 things:
    1. any tips on how to keep the budget down as you've done that really well. It will be down to me and my OH paying as I've no parents to pay for it.
    2. WELL DONE on the weight loss - that is fab! Are you doing it alone or with a club? I'm similar weight and used to be sporty but since I stopped the weight has just piled on. Any tips would be great, thanks.
    Congrats on both points. xx

Our budget is £5k for wedding, and then whatever else we can save for the honeymoon. We are very lucky to be getting a lot of help from my parents.

We are planning a small wedding - family only at ceremony (30), then another 50 friends at night. Having ceremony and reception at same venue so wont need cars as we will be staying the night before, making the invites ourselves, getting M&S cake and decorating myself, getting a ring made for me as my engagement ring is an unusual shape but being done locally and getting a good deal, hoping to get wedding dress in a sale, H2B is in the forces and will be wearing his No 1's so no need for suit hire, and venue is great value for money - 5* service at 3* prices!
    Hiya,
I take it "his No1's" is his uniform? If so, I take there will be other uniformed gents there - any spare invites?!?!?!
Seriously though, any tips for keeping the budget low?
    Congrats anyway.
    :)
