what I'll do is in the group conversation box, I'll type my opening thoughts, so that those who like to ponder things beforehand can have a look.

there will be a big pulsing heart at the start of my project briefing messages, so's you can find them more easily :)

I will link to this from the "essential lists" post for ease of access and update as necessary. If I remember, that is ;)

basic HTML knowledge, good at digging/researching via internet. Interested in weight loss aspect of nutrition. No current work commitments mean can be online at any point in the day. Very internet proficient. Proofreading.

    auditbabe - minutes

Cazzdevil - proof reading, recipe reading, shopping list making, google fingers for internet researching, spreadsheets, baking

HowlinWolf - good at creating and using spreadsheets (unless you ask me to write an If formula!) has software that can understand an excel spreadsheet and can send out a spreadsheet that can be read in excel but does not have excel on her Mac. Good at writing but am time limited in this because I like things to be perfect. Good at editing and spotting missing bits. Good at eating!!!!! Baaaaad at following recipes, but good at making up recipes - has an overly casual recipe writing style which can confuse/frustrate some readers. Needs jobs that can be done in short bursts and are not necessarily crushingly urgent as have time issues and am bad at long term sustained stuff. Hates internet/calorie research. Like lists - writing them and reading them. Project skills. Can write minutes.

I have done the advanced training on excel & word, but as mostly only actually need to use basic functions am only confident in these. I got an above average appraisal this year & was told I was good at organising (obviously my manager has not seen my home!) My job involves analysing large amounts of data, including medical & legal, researching this further, and writing reports/letters etc. based on this information in a low jargon/user friendly way.
At the moment I am on sick leave due to problems with discs in my neck. But even when working full time I work from home 2-3 days a week, which gives a lot of flexibility. But due to disc problem it is better to do short bursts. I won't offer to help unless I am sure to follow through, as I alway meet my commitments!

I am good at making wine. (I am actually quite good at drinking wine )
I am good at making cake. (I am actually quite good at eating cake )
I am good at seeing the bright side of a dark subject, and making people laugh, accordingly.
I am good at dealing with difficult people on the phone.

Pinkhayley789- Good at writing things but bad at maths and even worse at spreadsheets Confident at editing and proofreading, a positive and enthusiastic individual who welcomes a challenge. Likes trying new food, stuffing her face and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

Shanks good at following and testing recipes, keeping lists and nagging. Bad at anything technical, computer related. Free most eves from about 7pm for 2-3hours

    Sian the Green
Skills- willingness to try pretty much any recipe, good at making up random recipes and working out how to change them to taste better, excellent proof-reader (good at spotting mistakes in spelling and grammar though currently without an apostrophe key), generally fairly silly and laid back so not good at doing things on time but good at encouraging people and having fun ideas, fairly good with using words, creative... Hmm, this is hard. I am not good at things requiring detail or routine!

    SusanC
good at listening, empathy, speaking the truth diplomatically, research, concise writing of complex topics, HTML, PH. Keen interest in nutrition and topics relating to parenting. Politically knowledgeable.

    taka
Good at maths, simple spreadsheets and researching things that can be completed quickly. Good at looking at small details and problem solving. Poor at eloquent writing/editing. Access to online Science publications and can help to decipher scientific papers if necessary (though nutrition is really not my field!). Nervous, inexperienced cook (veggie) who tends to follow recipes to the letter. Expert at lurking! Mostly on MSE during afternoons at work or just after work has finished so only have lunchtime or short breaks available to help during the day unless I have a late timepoint and not on MSE much in the evenings (unless I know I need to be in advance). Much more time at the weekends to help. Have access to both IE and Firefox on 3 computer OS's - Vista (home desktop), Windows XP home (netbook) and Windows XP professional (work desktop). I can also sometimes access a Mac (a really old one only running IE5! )

    queen of string
Big picture and sideways thinking. Rewriting sentences and paragraphs. Transcribing, verbatim or main themes, from Skype convos, if you choose to record them. Testing recipes ( tend not to stick very well to recipes though!) so best when these are recipes in development. I CAN do most other things if they are required, but mostly they bore me to death :-). Currently under occupied but that will change in a couple of weeks :-).

Ermmmm quick question about skype... I downloaded skype to my netbook last night and it is asking me for my full name and screen name (or something similar - I'm on my work comp at the mo so I can't check). Which bit should I have down as my MSE name? If I put my real name too will it be seen by everyone as well as my screen name or whatever it is called?

I haven't a clue if I'll be back home in time to set it up tonight but knowing what I need to do in advance would be really useful!

Basically a numpty's guide to basic skyping and how to find everyone would be really helpful... pretty please with a cherry on top!!!! :) Thanks! :p

A numpty here. If you put down your RL name then that is what seems to come up on the chat so what i did was that, then went into personalize and changed ti to my MSE name cause i found it hard to remember who everyone was. I am sure a better explanation will follow soon xx

It didn't work for me that way last time, Weezl - people would not appear on the coversation list until I've added them. Was I doing something wrong ?
ah! how do I send you them? who you missing?

potty, jenny and hornetgirl I think, but I'll have to doublecheck when I get home. Again, if we could have a list of all you have added so far, then we can try and make sure we have all added each other before the chat.

ok I've posted a kind of 'info speech to our meeting' into the joint conversation we started on weds. I think I have added you all so you can see it. Please use the meeting to respond to any parts of it you like, all views welcomed.

A couple of groundrules to keep us on track:

lets try to stay as on topic as we can!

If you're pretty much saying the same as someone else, type 'agree allegra' rather than retype the same point or it could get huge!
please don't hold back from saying harder things, our project will not be so amazing if I don't know what's not working :)

    Howzat?

Look forward to everyone's thoughts around 7.10 (fergie goes to bed a 7)

Carrot cake recipe - the ingredient picture is sliced carrots. I wonder if this might be slightly confusing since they are meant to be grated for the recipe?
