It is tough NOW. So how are we coping

Well it shouldn't be tough for us, but it is, despite hubby getting another job, tring to get straight is like wading through treacle. The first month they 'forgot' to pay him & we waited an extra 3 weeks for his money, this month they did pay him, but they haven't paid his expenses, so he's owed £300. I know there is light at the end of the tunnel, but I just wish it would get bigger quicker!
Never let success go to your head, never let failure go to your heart.0 -
That is how we ended up in the situation we are in now. My OH was made redundant and we ran out of cash when he got a new job we had to wait another month for him to get paid. We have spent the last couple of years trying to get back on an even keel and just as we are getting close he is being made redundant again! Back to square one!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

It's sorted!!Phew.I went to the local tax office and filled in the claim form there and then-had a call back from a manager yesterday to say it was on the computer and she would ring me as soon as it was processed and she rang me back today and I should get some money on Friday.Phew-what a relief!!I'm glad I didn't cancel any bills yet as they are all due next week and will all be able to be paid on time. It's such a weight off my mind!!
OH still being a *******(fill in your own words here) so I'm just ignoring him as much as possible at the moment.

Just thought of another one--raid charity shops for dressing-up clothes then choose a different theme for that day a la tv shows, [look away Curly
] Pirates of the Carib , Harry P, :starmod: wars, etc etc etc, then design a menu & place cards to tie it all in. An example:-
Theme - Little Merm@id. Collect seaweed from the beach & use this as a weather forecast until it rots or you get fed-up of the smellHave tuna sandwiches, fish & chips, make your own fish fingers from fresh [or thawed] fish & the child can do the messy bit with the egg & breadcrumb
Visit the Sea-Life centre or a pet shop to see the various species & get a book from the library about sharks & stuff. Read--or get a copy of the film--20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Find out the Greek & Norse names for various mythological gods. Then..
That leads to Pirates--eye patch. Play that game where you have to remember five things on a tray for 30 secs then cover it over & see how many you remember. Try a sensory box where the child has to identify things by touch. Read--or watch--Treasure Island. "Climb the rigging" on the local net thingie at the park. Make basic flour & water 'biscuits' & string a hammock for whatever passes as @ction M@n these days. Build a galleon from boxes, either as a model or scrounge some super-sized ones from a shop. Have water-bomb canon-fights. OR..
Go the whole mythology route. Make a maze with a shopping line on the front room floor if it's wet outsideThere's Hercules cartoon, & Jason books & films.
That 'us' children's film company has a lot of good films that can probably be hired from the library if the child isn't too keen to read the book. It may be too, that if you got another 'mum' onside you could pool resources so as you entertained one day & they did the next, thus halving the emotional strain on youFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Morning All
Well have been looking at bills today. Hate having to go and pay them but it needs to be done and hoping after I've paid all these bills and finished with next weeks lot once wages are in that I should have about £100 left over. So today I am off to town with £40 to do a shop that will hopefully be able to stretch us until next week if not a bit further - hoping to get a few bits and pieces for home baking too like bread flour/plain etc and make some pastry etc - although boyfriend is back on a health kick at the minute so too much baking etc is a no go so might be plenty of fruit, veg and meat - gutted I went out yesterday to visit my mum and missed the local market though - could have gotten a fair few bits then! Although hoping to use up freezer contents and go over there next week once boy is back in school and stock the freezer - might brave the meat van too - although wish me luck as get a feeling £40 isn't going to go far in Mr T for some reason so off to make a list of what I have in already (not a lot!) and see what I need to make meals round them! Although really need to buy some bowls / plates too as we seem to have lost them and im down to two plates!!Time to find me again0 -
sammy_kaye if you have a morrisons near you they have fruit and veg for 30p again. pears, satsumas, kiwis, rooster potatoes and sliced mushooms. sainsburys also have potatoes and onions at 30p. hope it helps.0

Aldi tooI have halved my weekly shopping bills by using Aldi and Lidl, I visit both to get their bargains and special offers (Aldi - mainly fruit and veg and Lidl - mainly meat, pet food etc) Then nip to either Tesco or Asda to get anything I havent bought from the other two!! I worked out that I am saving about £50 per week this way and I am getting way more fruit and veg than I was able to before!
