Yes. despite accepting people that haven't got a perfect credit history, it's still essentially a mainstream credit product, and discharged bankrupts are the least popular people in the world to lend money to.

And soon it will be the British Goverment :D

Speak of the devil and he shall appear...

I was actually declined for the Silver card twice before being accepted a third time... I had no adverse information on my Equifax file, just thin on the ground with too many searches.

My ex was declined for the Silver card, has a spotless file bar one default from 2 1/2 years ago.

My mother was approved with a spotless file bar a Barclaycard account in an Arrangement.

I wouldn't expect them to say yes if you have a BR order on there given they said no to my ex for just one default :o

  • Hi All,

I'm a discharged Bankrupt and I recevtly got a Vanquis Card with £250 limit, I also applied online for Silver Mastercard and was told they "will be in touch" or something like that. Has anyone ever had a vague answer like that when applying? If so did you get accepted and how long did you wait before hearing?

I am not getting into debt again just trying to build my credit history again:)

    Thanks,
    ROML

i got a vanquis and capital one in the last month, applied for a silver mastercard and was rejected with a message saying sorry try vanquis:rotfl:

Got an offer from Flybe about 2 weeks ago, offering balance transfer at 0% for 6 months or 7.9% for the life of the balance (3% fee).

How long did you give it between applications?

  • I looked into the silver Sygma (attempting to repair credit file after completed IVA) and found this in their T&C's...

Finally, you need to have a clean credit history, ie, no arrears, defaults, County Court Judgements (CCJs), bankruptcies or Individual Voluntary Agreements (IVAs).

    .
They aren't a "Sub Prime" lender, rather a "Lenient-Prime" lender.

So once you've held a Capital One / Vanquis / Aqua card for a couple of years after completing the IVA and made sure your credit files have been cleaned up properly (creditors love to leave incorrect default dates and balances re: IVA and BR), they will be your best shot if when the time comes to make the transition from sub prime to prime.

If you've just completed, stick with a couple of sub prime cards for a wee while to rebuild some recent positive history :o

Paper work arrived today, signed one copy and sent it back so should get the card next week.
Reading the agreement it says the credit limit will be decided by the bank etc ect, the APR states 18.9%?
Then total cost for credit £147.50, if this is the APR I have been set then if my calculations are correct the credit limit will be circa £750?
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
