Congratulations MBM, she looks gorgeous
So sorry to hear your news Sammy, I was quite worried when I read that you had been bleeding since Wednesday. When I had my miscarriage I was bleeding continuously and it started light but gradually got heavier over about two weeks then one day I had some big clots and that was it all gone at 8 weeks. I got pregnant again though on my next cycle and I'm now 30 weeks so I hope you will be just as lucky and will be back here soon.

I went to see quite a famous nutritionalist once and he said don't worry about butter (in moderation of course!) it's a pure food, not like marg or low fat spreads. So we always have butter. Fat per se isn't often the main problem in people's diets it's sugar and refined carbs and processed food - women especially cut down to skimmed milk or diet spreads but he said that was the wrong approach. If you go on pure cals (like WW) then you end up doing that but eating all kinds of chemical sweeteners and other nasties. I mean, when does it ever make sense to say no to avocadoes for example and yes to a low cal diet bar?!MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

Just lost a huge long post!
Sammy - hugs to you xxx
MBM - Congrats and welcome to Chloe (think I remembered that right) xxx
ML - Late school year babies - I was always the youngest at school (late July b'day) and loved being top of the class while the baby of the class. Also like to say I got my GCSE's at 15, A'levels at 17 etc (although nobody else cares).
Would also save us a years worth of child care if we have an August baby - perhaps not the way to think of it but they do say young ones catch up before they get to high school and it didn't do me (or my bro) any harm.

just had to let you know that what honey describes is not the norm!!
I needed the thick maternity pads for the first few days (think I used 3 packs) then about 2 weeks using normal sanitary towels. From previous dissusions on the parents thread most had stopped bleeding completely by 4 weeks post natal.
If you pass clots bigger than a 50p you need to inform the MW!
There's a wide range of normal though! I bled for 17 weeks after my first (though only heavily for the first couple, then like a light period thereafter), and for about 6 months after my second. Doctors weren't at all concerned by this, as it was within normal parameters apparently!0 -

Do you know what's funny - I read your post and decided I totally agreed with what you were saying, I hate sweeteners etc in things, refuse to buy marg etc and eat as much natural food as I can - then I realised you were replying to me saying I was naughty having butter!! Ha ha!! I did have a massive blob though, which was the naughty part!! And I'd actually chosen white pasta when I almost always have brown!0 -
Hiya Ladies!!
Just popped in from the Parent Thread to post a hospital bag checklist for Glam (and anyone else that finds it useful)
For You
3 or 4 nighties and Dressing gown (dark colour is good in case of leaks after the birth)
Breast Pads
Maternity pads (PLENTY)
Lots of comfy big knickers – suggest buying some cheapies in a size too big in case of stitches – make sure they are not too tight and stretch a bit.
Nursing or Support Bra (dependent on breastfeeding )
2 x Towels (again dark is better. One to dry and one to use depending on how long you stay in for)
Slippers with hard soles or sandals/ shoes.(hospital toilet floors in post natal wards are not renowned for their dryness/cleanliness)
Toothbrush/Paste
Hairbrush/bands
Face/bodywash/shampoo
Baby sponge / flannels (you will need a separate one for your ladybits for a while!)
Loose Comfy Clothes to go home in (you won't shrink back to normal size immediately)
Tissues
Kitchen roll for drying ladybits
Fan
Nipple cream
Carton drinks
Chap stick
Mints
For Baby
3-4 vests (just in case of leaky poo)
2-3 babygros
Hats and scratch mits
Nappies
Cotton Wool
Going Home Outfit
Blanket (not necessary but some people like to put baby in car seat then put blanket over if chilly)
Vaseline – a slick on their bum makes it easier to clean off the sticky first poops!
I would say all of the above are mainly essentials... however... you may find it nice to take in things to make you feel human again like
make up
magazines (good to dip in and out of rather than books)
puzzle book and pens
sweets to suck on in labour
small cartons of juice
Straws
cereal bars for early labour (keep energy levels up)
Socks(when your 10cm some people find their feet get cold before the pushing bit)
camera/video (new batteries!!)
car seat upon being picked up
For Dad
Clean top & deoderant!!
Sandwiches
Spare change & list of phone numbers
Car park money - £2 min every time!
CD's
I am sure there are thingsI have forgotten but this is a pretty good start!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120
