Rail Travel: Tips on Cheap Tickets

Hello.
I am going to a wedding in Ipswich and i am trying to get cheap tickets.
What i need is 2 single adult tickets from Ipswich to Leagrave(1 stop after Luton) on 30th August leaving between 10 and eleven in the morning.
I tried raileasy but the price has gone from £17 to £38 for that day.
We dont have any railcards.
Thanks.
Try splitting Ipswich - London and London - Leagrave, allowing for the bus/tube transfer
Don't use Raileasy - they charge a booking fee. Any train company site will do.
If it comes to it the bus from London to Luton then local train/bus might save a bit0 -
Unfortunately, the EMT version of GroupSave is only available where an Off Peak Day Return fare exists, so a Chesterfield - London journey would need to be split into some 4 chunks. The trains would need to stop at the stations where one moved from one ticket to the next, and this would mean the fast trains could not be used.
youwot, have you tried returning after 1900? This should make the cheaper fares available.
John
Yes i have tried after 1900 but no joy I am working on splitting but still tooo much anymore info would be appreciated
Thank You YOUWOT

I have to get to Brighton and live near Ashford (Kent).
Have just purchased a ticket which will take me all the way for £10.00:j
Took some finding as OH told me about it. Ticket is called South Coast Donlander and the website is
http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/off-peak-fares/advance-southern-railways.aspx
The 10.00 fare allows up to 4 or 5 passengers to travel as well and does include coaches in the area.
Great value - hope this helps!0 -
I am going to London (Kings Cross I have been told is the closest to New Edwardian Providence Wharf) from Aberdeen on 28/29 August (flexible). I think I need a one way as we are then travelling up to Chester on the 1st Sep for 3 nights before returning to Aberdeen. Would like to leave at about 7.30-8.00am from Aberdeen to get into London at a good time.
I have tried several websites going from Abd to Lon at £176, then Lon to Ches £44, then Ches-Abd £248. Can anyone see where I can get this cheaper? It is for two adults, is there a site I am missing? Looked on Trainline and Virgin.
ThanksAvon Rep

thank you. this is certainly better than what i found and more flexible. I tried splitting in Carlisle and also travelling via leeds and it wasnt much cheaper. Any suggestions? By the way where did you see this price and how do i get it?0 -
