Just been informed by OH  that we are going to the park tomorrow with some of his mates and their kids for a picnic....
I have nothing in (obviously ) so need to go shopping.
Any ideas for cheap, nice food to take? I'm thinking little sausages with a honey type coating (have no idea how to make them) and chicken drumsticks with a nice marinade etc etc...

I shall be needing lots of help a bit later, probably when I'm at lunch, I'm going to Mr T's tonight for a big shop and have limited funds, probably about £40. I need to feed the 5 of us for as many days as possible as cheaply as possible.
I will go through some recipes on here and write a shopping list for you all to peruse if that's okay?DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

Thanks, I am looking for ideas too (similar situation this month), so it will be great to see what you have bought.0 -

I'm very upset with myself
Didn't have a chance to do a shopping list yesterday so went to Tesco and spent £38.....just on last night's meal plus a few unnecessaries.....why can't I stop doing thatDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Its so easy to do that. I want to try a Sainsburys shop online, as their delivery is free if you spend over £100, and cheaper if you spend over £40. I always spend less online anyway.
If I go into Tescos I end up getting loads of special offers. I got a 1/2 price whole side of salmon (from the fish counter) the other day for £6, but I only went in for some bread rolls. :rolleyes:0 -

That does look good...I think I'll have a go at making it in the next couple of days. Thanks for drawing attention to it and thanks to Thriftlady for the original recipe! :T
Jo, have you read Martin's article on Supermarket Shopping? There are lots of tips there that might help you to avoid overspending in future. Also the demotivator is good for a short sharp shock by working out how much you are wasting on unnecessary things.

Thank you Pink, I just feel so upset with myself. I think it's because I've been at work all day and get to Tesco and just want to get home so shove anything in the trolley, something quick and easy
I shall have a look at the supermarket shopping thread you've given me above and write a list before I go this evening (yes I do go shopping everyday and this is something I need to change!). I probably won't have time to do a big shop tonight so will just write a list for tonight then do a big list for tomorrow so I won't have to go shopping for a few days.
Thanks again
