I am not a vegan but I have a good friend who is and I want to buy her some kind of chocolate egg for Easter. I know that Green and Blacks do vegan chocolate and there are others, but she really really loves Cadburys creme eggs, which are obviously not suitable for her any more and I want to try and get her some kind of small creme egg type thing. I saw some Lindt Lindor dark (60%) chocolate creme egg style eggs in Tesco but couldn't find anything on them to say if they were suitable for vegans - does anyone know if they are suitable or, if they aren't, does anyone know of any other creme egg style little eggs which I could get for her. Also, are Raspberry Ruffle bars vegan?

No vegan creme eggs in the shops, Chocolate Skyes do them, contact on link below. I don't think cocoa tree do them anymore as they are no longer stocked at animal aid, but someone else may know different.

Whats around and online is listed on this site:
    http://www.veganfamily.co.uk/easter.html

Ruffles have been vegan, don't know current status, was recalled in December for having milk in them and not listing it. I think the packets say 'made in a egg and milk environment'. May have to contact them to find current status.
Frys chocolate creme is vegan and comes in 3 flavours and is easy to find in shops.

    Hope this helps

Did I see Vegan cream eggs mentioned? The vegan shop in Allison street in Birmingham (by Warehouse veggie cafe) has been selling those - really like cream eggs too with yellow fondant inside!

I got a vegan egg the large Kinnerton one with a 100g bar and a large egg from B&M bargins shop for £1.99:D was £6.99 in Waitrose!

Animal aid were selling vegan eggs as in cream egg sized ones I think.

Oxfam sell Divine dark choc mini eggs those are really nice.

Noticed vegan white choc bunnies and eggs on ebay - does say suitable for vegans - looks interesting!

Wish I could go to the Veggie show but am on holiday.

Was in London with about 20 vegan friends last weekend for a birthday meal at 222, then went to the Pogo cafe in Hackney for Sunday breakfast/brunch - both great - Pogo has nice cheap vegan food.

Never made it before so not sure. I'm going to try freezing it though.

    Hey guys,

I am addicted to Wagamama/other Japenese places to eat and so I tried to make my own version of the ramen (Stock soups full of stuff). Just thought I would post my recipie in case anyone was interested. While I am veggie, not vegan (yet) I think it would be fairly easy to "veganise" by checking the ingreedients.

To a base of bullion stock (as much as required for taste) I added whatever vegetables I had

spinach, sweetcorn, mixed frozen veg (value Mr T), green beans, carrots, onions, potato etc.....

I also added some quorn pieces (i know these are not vegan - you could add tofu or bean curd here).

I added flavourings (chilli, ginger, lemon juice, mixed herbs, pepper) etc.

To me it tasted really good - not quite wagamama ramen bu then I was missing several of the key ingreedients.

I hope this helps someone. sorry i can't be more specific over the measurements but im one of these "chuck a handful in and see" type people

PS you're all making me think about turing vegan cos your food sounds amazing.

Char_pdc just so you know bean curd is just another name for tofu. It could also be called toufu or doufu from what I know. It depends who you talk to and where they are from to what they call it.

Doufu sounds like someone trying to saying tofu when they're bunged up with cold :rotfl:

Am currently awaiting to see what choc concoction by bake-happy sister has made for me this Easter....

Also, was a complete kitchen s*ut last night, did microwave choc cake with absolutely no direction whatsoever than just putting a few ingredients in a mug and seeing what happened. It filled a need.

Hi Cat I make a thick cream for truffles by blending 1/2 of a cup of ground cashews with 1/2 of a cup of water. You can adjust the water to get the consistency you want and could use apple juice to make it sweeter.
I usually then just blend that with dark chocolate.

I can now confirm that the lindt lindor dark choc creme egg is not vegan. Saw them today and read the back of the display box to find out. Sorry, would of been nice if it was.

My sister came round today and gave me some redwood items. The fish style fingers, organic brussels style pate and organic ham style slices. Thankfully they are all suitable for freezing as I don't eat processed items very often due to them being expensive, not nutritionally sound as well as not exactly natural. I do like eating as natural as possible as well as organic where possible which is the big reason I’m growing as much fruit and vegetables as I possibly can this year; although the fact that it saves money is also a good thing obviously.
I’ve never tried these redwood items before due to their price and due to being so processed but I am hoping to be happy with them anyway. I don’t eat a lot of cooked foods now as it is (trying to be as raw as possible but not 100%) and to be honest I find there is a vibrancy with raw food that is just lost with cooked foods. Light steaming is fine I think (less of a loss of vitamins and minerals) but cooking the life out of foods is just something I do not understand all that much anymore. I do still eat some cooked foods but I do not feel the need to have them as I did before .

By the way what do other people think of the redwood products? If you aren't sure what I'm on about http://www.redwoodfoods.co.uk/index.html will help you. What do people think of what they have tried from this company?
