  • Note to Dan - in Sellerchecks previous post, which I'm presuming is an open posting to you, I note the use of the word 'us,' please don't bother including me in the 'us.' I'm quite happy thanks!;)

    same here....

oo ye i dont think you are a crook or incompetent as a business person. flip to have a few thousand orders in your intray in a matter of hours.... is by the looks of it a double edged sword for you.... you will never please everyone..

but i am more than pleased even with the blips i have had with lost parcels.. and short orders etc.... i am just so glad that the op posted this thread.. to bring you to my attention.... as now i can order a few treats... which i wouldnt have done from a supermarket due to the price...

I am not going to say anything more to Decker as obviously they allways want the last word.. so whats the point in trying to explain the reason behind their experience..... which Dan has been trying to address over the weeks.... he shut his site down to try and carch up.... that didnt work as the minute the site re-opened. there was a huge amount of orders.. then he did tell people about the approx 2 weeks backlog, which people could have cancelled their orders if it was too long to wait.... and he is trying to address the stock control, by doing a stock control on line...

dont forget.... Dan hasnt got thousands of pounds to set up an all singing and dancing internet shopping site.... as his profit margins are as thin as a fag paper.... so we can have loads of bargins, which some people seem to forget...
Work to live= not live to work
  • This sounds like a company that people will try once and only once if expectations are not met. Paper thin margins don`t concern me, if he couldn`t cope then he should not have gone nationwide

Again, spare us the personal comments - it's not helpful or appropriate in a thread dedicated only to customers' experience of AF.

And here's a basic business tips: if you take 'thousands of orders in 'a matter of hours' then STOP TAKING ANY MORE ORDERS. If you're in a hole, stop digging. Once you clear the backlog, open the site for a few hours, take some more orders, and then close it again until you've caught up. Rinse and repeat. Simple, really.

I note your comments regarding his lack of funding and wafer thin margins, which I assume he's told you himself during your chats with him? You are confirming what people may be thinking, e.g. that his cashflow is so bad that he has been taking money from peoples' accounts early to fund the growth in his business rather than to pay for the goods at the point of delivery. This is an absolute recipe for disaster - more businesses are ruined because of poor cashflow than because of low sales. Your further claim that he has 'wafer thin margins' just completes the picture of a house of cards.

I guess it depends on what your expectations are - I'm quite happy.

He didn't go nationwide, at least not with intentional publicity. Somebody here picked up on his site and, because of us, he got the publicity - media contacting him, not the other way around.
If you don't want him to have the publicity then I guess you ought to contact folk like Martin Lewis and tell him not to talk about it on GMTV.

Thing is, somewhere in all of this, the logic behind the popularity of companies such as AF, seems to have gone astray ...

In fact, to be honest, the logic of the whole site has gone astray.

I hit on this site by accident, knew it existed but had never visited. I'm not in debt, live frugally and have done for years ... to be honest I'm now so far out of the modern 'loop,' I feel a bit like a voyeur ...
I don't expect immediate gratification, I don't expect to be able to bung things on a cc, yadda, yadda ...

But I am absolutely gobsmacked at people's responses. More particularly, at people who have money saving sig's that indicate they are actually fervent about what they do - Which takes time, effort and patience, whether that be learning about gardening or whatever.

It's started to strike me that the posts are more about 'cheap for cheap's sake,' which is never a good attitude to go into anything with. If you aren't prepared to cope with hitches, glitches, things not running A1 all the time, then don't even bother trying it.

I appreciate some people are like that, but surely if you are risk averse, in any respect, then you should always keep doing the same thing ... or at least, as you say, try it, then stop and walk away.

  • Hi

I ordered on the 3rd, was charged on the 3rd, saw here the mess they're in and cancelled on the 4th.

After a partial refund around 16th I became alarmed that my order was still progressing. Took 2 emails and a phone call to sort it out. Phone was answered in a very unproffessional manner, 'er hello' not company name or anything to suggest I may have dialled the correct number.

    Refund pretty instantaneous though.

    Just what happened to me.

  • house of cards, my thought as well. You speak sense mdecker. Others have become too subjective and emotive
  • 3 tins of asparagus from AF - 99p

    1 tin in local shop - £2.57

No contest - consider me 'emotional.'
  • I can`t get emotional about a pile of cheap things made from fat, salt and sugars

lol and how many times a year is anyone going to use floppy asparagus in a tin
