  • How wonderful to have our very own section! Hello to all fellow Milton Keynesians!

Perhaps we should think of a name we should call ourselves? 'Milton Keynesians' is a bit long-winded!

    Any ideas???

    Hello all MK people!

I usually stay around the debt free wannabe board, i think this is great that we have a special thread for MK :T

I am on prepay meters for my gas and electric, my electric meter has just been changed to one with a key (british gas is supplier).
Does anyone know which shops i can top up my key?

I live south west MK and work in the centre, so anywhere round these places would do, used to go to a one-stop but they can't top up the key.

Any help is greatly apreciated - i'm on my last £5!

    Thanks in advance

When you say key do you mean card?

Go onto British gas website and they should provide a list of places where you can top up in your arear. Or just call them to find out

hi, thanks $17mma - got the info through the house.co.uk site like you said.

I did mean key, they came round and changed our electric meter last week. Only 4/5 places can top up the key in the whole of MK and none are in the city centre!

At least i know where to go now, thanks again :T

Does anyone know when the next farmers market is on in Wolverton??

    I looked on here: http://www.farmersmarkets.net/default.htm
    but couldn't see it. Sorry.
    but Googling found this
"Sat 18 Mar 06 - Sust! stall Wolverton Farmers' Market
Sust! will have a stall every third Saturday of the month at Wolverton Farmers' Market.
Note that April's market with be on the 15th.
From 9am-1pm in the car park of the Market Halls building on the corner of Creed St and Stratford Rd (opposite Tesco car park). "

and this at this address http://www.mkweb.co.uk/whatson/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=30794
    "Wolverton Farmers Market
Why Not Give us a Try?

Good Food costs less than you think at Wolverton Farmers Market.it's locally produced, seasonal and delicious too!

    Fruit * Vegetables * Eggs * Bread * Milk * Cheese * Butter * Free Range Meat *

Cakes * Pies * Fair Trade Goods * Dried Goods * Refreshments * Kids Activities *

The market is on every third Saturday in the month

Location - Market Halls Car Park, Stratford Rd (opposite Netto)

    Time - 9am-1pm

Recent surveys have found that, on average, food sold at Farmers Markets can be up to 40% cheaper than the equivalent supermarket product.

Food can have a hidden cost too. Food transport produced 19 million tonnes of carbon dioxide in 2002. Carbon dioxide is one of the gases that contribute to climate change. Food transport now accounts for 25 percent of all Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) kilometres in the UK.

'Food miles' are the social, economic and environmental cost of getting food to the consumer.

You can dramatically reduce them by shopping locally for seasonal produce.

For tips on what's in season and what to do with it see https://www.eattheseasons.co.uk
