Whatever happened to the lady who posted her intention to try the local government MOT test centre in MK? She promised a review of the experience but I didn't see it...0

Aubergines = exotic vegetables, at least at Tesco.
If you got your Tesco Clubcard vouchers this week, with accompanying vouchers that included extra points when you buy various stated fresh veggies including aubergines, then you may want to note that at Kingston the value bag of 3 veggies shows up on the till scan itemisation as 'exotic vegetables' and thus your extra points voucher won't recognise them as being eligible for the extra points by way of being aubergines.
So make your way to the CS desk to point it out and stake your claim to your rightful points.
Such electronic labelling seems like an exotic way of getting out of giving you your extra points. Why not specify 'exotic vegetables' on the extra points voucher?0 -
Was the girl on the till acting as an unmotivatedly lethargic rogue today when she told me that there's a new rule in the store which dictates that customers must now buy the actual product on a manufacturer's voucher in order to use the voucher, or did anyone else have a similar experience?
In the morning I used a couple of vouchers for items I didnt buy, as i often do; but by evening the purported new policy appeared to have kicked in.0 -
Does anyone know of any free Wi-Fi hotspots in the MK area?
Other cities have them but seemingly not MK. The other day I saw an apparent manager pull over in his car for a few minutes in the carpark of McDonald's at Kingston and power up his laptop while he was in the driver's seat. Wondered if there is a freely available Wi-Fi hotspot there, or elsewhere in MK?0 -
I suspect that you might be right. I thought that MacD's were attempting to offer wifi hotspots in their restaurants across the UK...
One of the sixthformers at my school has just got himself a wifi hotspot finder to seek 'em out in MK, I shall ask him for his findings... although he does live in Wolverton so doubt he comes over our way (Kingston).
Maybe I'll borrow it and have a squizz myself, or just take my laptop out and about with me. If any of you see a stranger tapping on a laptop looking peeved, that'll probably be me!!!0 -
I had my haircut done at the college last week - £4.50 for a cut and blow dry.
First impressions - lots of notices saying visitors MUST wear ID - but reception was closed.......
HAir and beauty reception was a little manic - nobody seemed to know what was going on, eventually a little voice squeaked my first name from somewhere near the door, then failed to make herself known when I turned around and asked who had called me...........
After a nervous start (and getting barracked by the 'tutor' for failing to do something) she settled down and completed the whole operation in about an hour and 20 mins (normally takes 40 mins in a salon) The cut wasn't quite what I was expecting, but the tutor said it had been messed about so much by the previous (non college) cut, we'd have to let that grown out first. Actually, I'm getting used to it now, and am thinking of keeping it a little longer.
It wasn't as relaxing as I'd hoped, as the tutor was forever yelling at somebody for sitting down on the job, doing their own hair, or just generally failing to behave in a professional manner.
Would I go back - yes, it was worth it for a saving of around £20 on what I normally pay for the same (if not better) result - AND the college is walking distance from home and I never knew :rolleyes:0 -

The Green Man pub in Eversholt (near Woburn) used to have one, but I've not been for a while so not sure if they still do. But hey even if they don't the nice food and good beer mean it isn't a totally wasted trip!
Best wishes

I bought an outer of Jordans Crispy Crunch cereal from the CB yesterday (stall near the top of the hill on the inside of the circuit).
Marked at 80p per 500g packet (normal retail around £1.80) I thought it was just because they had a BBE 01.03.06 - didn't notice the oily stains on the packets.
The packets had been in a spill of parafin or petrol, and this had been absorbed into the cereal - it smells fine, tastes fine, but when you've eaten it you get a taste of fuel in your mouth - beware!!
Does any one think I should get in touch with trading standards?0
