Perhaps it was the uselessness of the UK employees that prompted the move? I frequently speak to nutcases in this country's call centres so it isn't just Indian Call centres which have teething problems...spacey0

Harsh to be blaming India for this.
Its the huge multinationals keen to save $$$ and increase profitability...without passing on the savings to you or I.
We did it to the South East Asian car industry 20 years-and rejoiced in all the UK jobs.
Thats capitalism I guess!0 -

Well the thing that's annoying me at the moment, is Orange selling your details to third parties, who then pester you constantly about a new mobile.
I have been continually pestered by communications direct - they called me 17 times in 1 day! (maybe they didn't understand my various threats of random violence).
But today, I really lost it.
I had a call from DocklandTelecoms (0870) 0426655. I answered and then stared asking lots of extremely probing questions about my contract and wanted my personal details.
I said "I am not prepared to give you that information".
The guy then had the balls to tell an out and out lie:
"Unless you confirm your details, you cannot renew your contract with Orange".
At this point I got a bit !!!!!! off, and pointed out that as Orange manage to bill me every months and send me an invoice, then they must have my details already.
I also pointed out that I was registered with TPS. The guy clearly had no idea what I was on about, so I explained.
"Looks like it isn't working, then doesn't it?!" he guffawed to himself, shortly before I told him to shove up his proverbial and hung up on him.
Fuming, I reported this to TPS, but the I thought that since Orange are the ones who have sold my info, I am not going to let them get away with this.
So I called them, foaming at the mouth by this time and got through to a lady who was wonderful!
She was absolutely mortified about what I told her, and said that although Orange do have contracts with these places, (which sucks, to be honest), the terms of the contract they have with Orange have been breached by both companies.
It's been passed to the monitoring team for investigation and the lass is going to phone me back in couple of days with the outcome, and was relly apologetic.
So I guess if you get the right person, Orange can be kinda cool!
