Followed up with call to ING this morning over lack of any progress since my KE BACS request of 6 Oct 08. Whilst I now feel they will get this sorted they have insufficient data from KE and I get the impression this will take weeks if not longer to get payment to destination account. There was also some confusion in that their staff were stating KE is Offshore in the Isle of man to which I highlighted there are 2 seperate types of account here the KE which is protected (Now by ING) under the FSCS terms and Kaupthing offshore which is totally different based in the IOM and is not protected. This was quite disturbing that ING staff did not know the difference. I also phoned the FSA who are aware and are really just advising patience. I am not happy with this but there is little else I can do but if not in destination account within another week will press FSA again.

Further to earlier postings I fully appreciate ING are addressing all old requested transactions. However, when ING state they don't have the KE records it does not inspire confidence. Whilst I appreciate they can go through everything how do they do this if they don't have records. I passed my transaction reference to ING this morning for my BACS transfer from 4 and 6 Oct 08 and it means absolutely nothing to them. I feel this is going to be a long and painful process. I am not desperate for the money but I bet there are Ex KE customers who are and this is simply not good enough. FSA just advise patience. Never mind if there is a shortfall perhaps Gordon Brown will lend ING the money to pay us back like he has done with Landsbanki.

The main money expert page states BACS will go back to the original KE/ING account not the destination account. However, people appear to be having their BACS (Initiated pre 8 Oct 08) paid to the destination account. Does anyone really know what is going on I doubt it and have concerns that ING don't know either.
  • I called the KE call centre yesterday as a BACs transfer should have been received into my link account yesterday. I was told that there was a delay in processing all transfers initiated between 6-9 Oct and any 'missing' ones were held in a transit account. I asked the advisor if there was any way of checking the status of my transfer and was told 'No, if we do that for every customer who calls, we'd never get any other work done." Was assured that monies were safe and that they'd eventually arrive but could take another week. HTH

There is a huge main thread about the CHAPS AND BACS transfer issues here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1205063&page=97
(despite it being only called CHAPS in the title).

Martin has recently posted on it too, with some information, page 94 I think.

Lots of information from conversations with ING call centre staff, basically saying people who have told they will have their money soon have been lied too.

It looks like eventually the money will arrive back in the KE accounts, but there are conflicting messages.

Could we have these two threads merged together?
