Personally, I am fine with everything now, PROVIDED ING DONT GO BUST. This isnt assured, you presumably saw the markets today and the DOW hasnt opened yet. How can these loses be sustained?
ING is by far one of the safest banks at the moment. Very good credit rating and minimal exposure the credit default swaps (CDS) crisis that is about to start hitting the fan in the US this afternoon (one of the reasons for today's huge stockmarket crash).
We owe a debt of gratitude do messrs Darling and Brown for seizing KE and putting it in ING's hands before Iceland got their hands on the money. Let's hope Iceland didn't get their hands on any of it.0 -
My mum & dad both did BACS transfers from their KE accounts on Monday morning and the money (£6k + £900) has turned up in their linked RBS account today.
Good news !0 -
Me too! BACs transfer from Monday morning has just appeared in my current account.
Tuesday and Wednesday's still to come, but still very relieved.0 -
Words fail.
Can you not even comprehend the simple fact that had ING not entered into the H.M. Treasury brokered deal to take on KE UK savings deposits, there'd be a damn sight bigger mess?
Who d'you think is ultimately going to fund all those IceSave customers who took a punt on a bank with a dodgy compensation scheme yet are now -- regardless of their recklessness -- to be compensated 100% for every penny?
It's not the FSCS alone that will carry IceSave customers. It's the UK itself -- i.e., the UK taxpayer.
If ING hadn't taken the FE accounts under its wing -- and out from FSCS protection (max £50,000) to Dutch protection (max £76,000) -- then KE's failure might well have lumbered the UK taxpayer with yet MORE to find in compensation: after all, if IceSavers (who in my opinion certainly don't deserve it) are to get 100% compensation, then KE savers certainly merit the same treatment.
You should be grateful that your money is with a well-founded global bank. Not coming on here foaming at the mouth because you're not being treated the way you think.
Lots of posters on here repeatedly advise patience and understanding. They're not doing it because they're gullible fools but because they know that the alternative will achieve. . . absolutely nothing at all.
I cant disagree more. Many of you have heard my opinion on this so I wont bore readers further. I just feel that you have failed to see the wider, politically motivated agenda. A Brown supporter you are0 -
