I had mine done there a couple of years ago. Yes it was cheap, but it took AGES, and the tutor spent most of the lesson berating students for not doing homework, bunking off, chewing gum, and generally being disrespectful, so relaxing it wasn't :( Not an experience I'd want to repeat, and I hope it didn't set an example to the students of how they'd be expected to behave in a salon.....

No, they aren't open during the holidays. They go back early/mid Sept (usually just after the schools I think).

Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

has anyone on here had their hair done at mk college? need my hair cutting and highlights doing but am a bit short for cash, and seen other threads where people have recommended using the local college

not sure if they even do it, if they're open in summer or how i'd go about booking an appointment!! if anybody knows, and if you have any experiences (good or bad!!) to share i'd really appreciate your help.

Haven't been to MK college but have been to the 'training academy' at Zig Zags in Newport Pagnell. It did take a lot longer than normal highlights but they were very professional and all work is checked by their tutor as they go along. If they need any help the tutor steps in and does it for them so you don't end up with an awful hair cut or colour!

They're open Mon, Tues, Weds & Thurs....

Can anyone recommend me a mobile hairdresser who is able to do bridal hair and would be prepared to travel to Towcester to do my hair on the morning of my wedding.

I have had various problems and have 6 weeks to go and still not got anyone who is able to do this yet.

I tried Natalie but unfortunately she was unable to do it as she is booked up on my wedding day.

On another topic can anyone recommend a good dentist in MK? Is David Gilmartin in Crownhill any good? He has a good website. One that is good with nervous patients would be a plus. I wonder if the NHS ones are providing good service? The last time I went to the dentist it was an NHS one in Netherfield and I got butchered.. thats why I'm now a nervous patient!

I can whole heartedly recommend the Dental Works by Shaz and associates (no relation me btw). by the train station. They take on NHS patients and my fiance who absolutely hates the dentist doesn't even mind going to see the dentist now.

They also won runner up in the best new UK Dental Practice awards last year I think it was. They use a lot of new technologies and are well priced and they can offer sedation if you are a really, really nervous patient.

Electrician needed in Milton Keynes. Can anyone recommend someone please?

I need someone to sort out my dismantled fluorescent light (now in bits with cover off and wires hanging out since I had a go myself).

My regular guy has become so busy since he was featured in one of those Channel 4 makeover programmes (his work not him!) that I can't get hold of him!

    Thanks

    Hi, and welcome to MK.

Are you looking for an engraver for things like trophies, tankards etc? If so, I've found Dearden Trophies in Newport Pagnell to be good. Tel 01908 611421.

The Honda place my husband uses isn't in MK, it's Avonvale in Northampton. They seem pretty good; I used Avonvale in Stratford on Avon for many years before I came to MK, and actually saw some on the former S-o-A staff when we visited the Northampton branch.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi all,

I need recommendations for someone locally who can make a special birthday cake for my soon to be 1 year old daughter (I can't believe she's going to be 1!!!) Trouble is, she's allergic to milk and eggs so I need an egg free and dairy free cake. I'm hopeless at baking and even worse at anything remotely artistic so I'm not even going to attempt making it myself. Please help, would love her to have a cake she can tuck into too.

    Thanks in advance
