3 billing change - is this a rip-off?

Options
I got a letter from 3 today saying that any calls of 59 secs or less will be rounded up to 1 minute. Now I make a lot of sub-minute calls, so this will eat into my tariff quite a lot I think.

Did anyone else get this letter, and what do you think?

Possibly a change that is to your detriment, and could allow you to cancel the contract.

    How VERY interesting!

Haven't had this letter yet but it will significantly affect DH too who is on the old 70 or so mins+ lots of txts tarriff. All his calls are sub 1min really and he only just stays within allowance, so will be much out of pocket.

Would welcome advice but I would assume this comes under one of the material changes to contract that would allow one to "get out free".

If this is correct, could folks who know kindly link to or outline the "idiots guide" to doing this following all the legal bits as I would be very keen on doin this as I pay for his phone:rotfl:

Will affect me too but I have more minutes so it isn't an issue.

We though the retention deals were getting too good to be true again...

Only affects a very small selection of older tarrifs at the moment unfortunately, primarly the Talk 700 mins IIRC.
Pity too, as I've just paid to extract myself from my contract 2 months early (Finally couldn't put up with the abominal CS any further)

I have 6 months left on contract, Direct Talker 1000 but with a £20 discount from £35, include Xseries Gold for SLingbox ( never worked & will not replace ) for £10 a month for remining 12 months, having already paid 3 months Xseries gold & denied a Slingbox from stores = 15 months = £150 extra over term

    2 faulty 6288 refused a replacement 3rd time last August/Sept & had to buy a N95

£25 a month for nothing as my calls are diverted to my Orange mobile as digusted by how they have treated me since last year, after 4 years loyalty, £20 discount does not compensate for that......" want to cancel Diamonds ? that will be the full 11 months remaining minus the £20 a month discount = £495 to cancel " , ive just paid the £25 a month since Jan having took out a Orange contract in Dec 07

THANKFULLY A GET OUT CLAUSE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE EFFECT ME MR 1 MINUTE CHANGE TERM, PRETTY PLEASE :PRAYS:

    June 08 terms........

    http://www.three.co.uk/BlobServer.srv?blobdir=ImportantDoc&blobfile=June+08+V4+%2824.06.08%29%2C0.pdf

    15. Charging/Billing
All calls made (except calls to short code or
premium rate numbers) are initially rounded
to the first minute and are billed per second
thereafter. After the first minute, calls are
charged by the second, except some roaming
calls (calls made from abroad), Directory
Service and Special calls. ***********For customers other
than those on Mix & Match, Business Mix &
Match, Flat12 or Stretch tariffs the calls will be
billed per second from the start of the call for
    a promotional period (until 30 June 2008)************.
The call duration will be mathematically
rounded to the nearest second. Individual
events are charged excluding VAT and are
mathematically rounded to one tenth of a
penny. VAT is then calculated on the total of
all charges that are VAT applicable, and these
    total charges are then mathematically
    rounded to the nearest penny.

I didnt agree to that last June !!!!!

I went on to three last October; they sent me this letter in November to let me know they'd changed their minds about the first 59 seconds.

UPDATE : Success ( I know with 3 aswell, my first sucess in 12 months since upgrade !!! ) Most recent copy of T&C from June 2007 when I upgraded is on its way to me......7days max im told, i will post relevent information for you all, told customer (DIS)service 3 Exec Office had asked me to obtain a copy from
them as they did not have a copy to hand on site & to request from 333 :D
Seems 3 have added this date (30/6/08) to the June 08 T&C to cover there bum, did the Mix n Match 1 minute change last October leave a bitter taste ? " lets update the downloadable T&C from the website THEN send out letters of the change from 30/8/08, our cuistomers are stoopid they wont have the T&C from when they joined/upgraded "

here's hoping the muppets send me the T&C from June07 not 08 - I made it abundantly clear its from when I upgraded in June 07 I need them - they said " no problem "

    Can someone clarify:

    who does this affect?
when did it come into force according to 3?
when did it actually come into force?
