Funny isn't it how despressing for some is joy for others. I've been like a kid at Christmas this week waiting for the latest set of figures...
...and this year I got everything I wanted. :rotfl:Keep the right company because life's a limited business.0 -

The whole thing is just mucking up my total LifePlan F (A- E being rendered null and void).
I now believe I may be having a teeny weeny mid life crisis too but am not acknowledging it at the mo.
I live in derrelict rental in one place and let out my Elle Decoration (which took 10 yrs of graft to complete) family home to sttrrrrangerrrs who aren't even paying mkt rent, have illegal dog, lodger and have turned my wildflower garden into a jungle. (I'm sorting it out now BTW)
This year (as decided 3 yrs ago in Lifeplan B or C) was the year we were going to sell and buy in new location.
It's not even about how much. We will buy sideways ; like 4 like...it's !!!!!! do you actually put it on the market for?????/0 -

baldrick may have put his finger on the fact that hpc, without credit crunch = happiness for ftb's.
hpc with worst babking crisis since 1930 = poss. torrid times for neg eq'ers + ftb's
As finding an affordable house is one thing, getting an affordable mortgage may be quite another. :eek:0 -

Which is why people should save.
If they haven't balanced their finances to the point where they can put aside some savings for a mortgage deposit, they clearly can't afford to take on a large mortgage. Or certainly would be irresponsible to take on the debt. Relying on HPI to bail you out is just plain stupid and irresponsible.
The lenders giving huge mortgages to almost anyone, with little or even no deposit required is what got house prices to where they are today, It's also the cause of the US sub-prime crisis which is responsible for the current tough conditions.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -
What annoys me is that normal individuals knew this couldn't last and knew it was wrong to lend like that. It wasn't something only an economist could predict, it had to happen. When was the only unknown.
It's such a pity that mortgage lenders extended so far. 125%, BTL without much higher rental to interest cover, Interest Only, 4x, 5x, Self Cert and 30 years+. Because they extended so far now they are falling back to %LTV deals worse than we had in the 90's!0 -

Time to find another way to earn an income.
Don't mean to sound bitter but how many workers have had their lifeswork / skills made redundant by bigger stuff than them....thinking miners, steel workers, independent bakers / butchers, blacksmiths....wasn't that Fords fault?......long long list.
Forgot to add.....biggest problem this country has got to face over next decade is how many were employed in 'The money for nothing Economy'? Earning from commissions, fees, skim offs...nothing tangible in the long term.0
