Don't worry, I have more shenanigans this year and can be found posting on the Lloyds 6.5% thread!
I was really pleased with Egg - easy to set up and the interest rate stayed the same all year. That Barclays thing was a real hassle.
Thanks for the emoneyfacts tip - I'll have to keep an eye on that!
I'll be moving from YBS to an electronic bank (Kaupthing) so unfortunately can't take advantage of the cheque thing...
cheers

Seems as if uve been pretty well taken care of  , just to answer your one remaining question.

For people that have a YBS branch convenient to them, getting a cheque and paying in locally would be a quicker process than BACS, I know Bradford and Bingley pay interest on the first day following receipt and maximum period permissible is now 2 days following receipt for interest to start getting paid on cheques paid into savings accounts.
( Cheshire BS are the only apparent exception to the rule that im aware of.)

REGULAR SAVER: 6.35%(-0.25%). Wrong:p
Down from 6.85%Including conditional bonus
6.60%:D0 -

Their own website clearly states as of this morning as of 27.4.08
Regular Saver with bonus 6.6%, so slightly misleading info earlier on BLF.
Just as well I didn't close down my account!0 -

Suggest that you revisit their website:
Previous Rate 6.60% AER
Current Rate: 6.35% AER (as of 27/04/2008)0 -
Well between 9.23 and 9.37, they have obviously have updated their site and yes, I did have on the right pair of glasses!!!
Thanks0 -
These posts of yours are hard on the old eye, BLF. Do you know how to quote?

Shipped out a long time ago! Now with BM eSaver @ (currently 6.5%)0 -
I've got about 10K in YBS RS and it's been good upto now as effectively open-ended (withdrawal available as approach 20K with no interest loss) with high saving rates.
Alas, no more. I've been looking around this morning for an alternative.
Is there anything wrong with Abbey 13-month fixed RS?
Bad points i can see:
only £250 pcm
only for 13 months so no time to build up health balance at rate above current account rate.
Foreign bank rather than BS so little more risky.
Anything else?
Cheers,

Yes, I was wanting to quote 2 posters without double posting unlike some people who appear to get some personal gratification from double posting.:rolleyes2
Not sure why u illustrated the editing techniques by quoting two posters who both posted incorrect information.
Digs against me are like buses, none come then three come at once. :cool2:  :cool2:
Just in case u missed it Mr Sloughflint.I draw your attention to Post No 7 in linked thread below and hope that you find the factual information useful.
