Brantano Store Card

I'm so angry with mysef about this, as I don't usually get involved with store cards. Anyway, I did with Brantano recently - much to my anoyance. The card is actually called a Duet card, administered by Creation Financial Services Ltd. I was buying a pair of boots in Brantano, with no intention of entering into a credit agreement, when I was coerced into obtaining a store card i.e. "if you open an account today you will save 10% etc etc...". Foolishly, I agreed.
I missed the minimum payment date by a few days (mainly because I haven't had any cards for a long while, and I just forgot). When I realised, I paid the amount off in full.
I have just received a statement, which tells me that they have charged me £20 for missing the date. This is obviously Brantano's / Creation's business model. Get the punters to sign up and sting them for late payment.
So, please, learn from my mistake, and don't do business with these people.

The same thing happened to us - my husband thought that I would be happy that he had saved 10% on some shoes but he didn't pay for 2 months before I realised. So it cost us £40, I am still trying to get him to cancel the card.0

they send u statments telling u how much u owe and the minimum payment.
u failed to send payment ontime so they charged u... as do all credit companies...
you stung yourself... its not their fault u didnt bother to pay ontime...0 -
or learn from your mistake and with any credit agreement - credit cards, mobile phones, mortgages etc, pay them on time?0

Quite frankly I can't see how that could be, you are given up to 51 days to pay of the card before you are charged, also when you opened the account you should of been offered a phone number you could ring so that you could pay the card off over the phone as soon as you wanted.0 -
You can't really blame them that you didn't pay your bill on time!
That's what all credit companies do, your mistake is hardly their fault.0 -
£20 charge is excessive, the CC's I have all have a £12 charge for a missed payment."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I used to sell the Duet card at my old job, I could've sworn the fee was £10 for one missed payment, then £22 for two.0

how can it be a scam if the fault is entirely yours ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Do you know the same thing happened to me - I thought I'd save on the girls' winter boots and cut the card up straight after - I hate store cards. Well the bill came and I can't remember where I put it!!! Hence my missing the bl...ing date for payment and now I am waiting for the hammer bill! Oh I am so angry for entering into this stupid agreement in the first place!!!0
