Do you know the same thing happened to me - I thought I'd save on the girls' winter boots and cut the card up straight after - I hate store cards. Well the bill came and I can't remember where I put it!!! Hence my missing the bl...ing date for payment and now I am waiting for the hammer bill! Oh I am so angry for entering into this stupid agreement in the first place!!!

Despite all things these people are no better than common money lenders, given the cloak of respectability, same as "clampers" etc. The charges are ridiculous, then they threaten all sorts, i have missed 1 payment, despite funds being deposited to pay it. It happened in the sluggish world of financial transfer, bank took £36 for refusing a £55 payment, creation took £30. Thats approx 60% interest. Anybody seeing Creative Finance, CF etc, dont touch it, thoroughly horrid company TO DEAL WITH

    Really?

    Are you sure?

Then that is something worth following up.

That is either a disgraceful thing for a company to do or utter Codswallop.

I see one post poster, probably the latter is true!

I was coerced into obtaining a store card i.e. "if you open an account today you will save 10% etc etc...".

Hardly coerced is it, unless burly men stood over you cracking their knuckles and looking menacing. They asked, you said "Yes please I'd love to save 10% sign me up" - very easy to say no thanks, I say no thanks to these things all the time.

Just cough up the £20 and forget about it.

I've had a Brantano card for years.Always had a statement and more than enough time to pay.Never given them,or my credit card company any interest or had to pay late charges because i make sure I can afford to pay on time!

They have to make their money somehow, unfortunately it is out of people who either forget or cannot afford to pay in full each month.
  • have to say i have both a new look card and duet card and had them for around 4 years, bill arrives like clockwork every month, takes minimum payment if i havent paid it off by direct debit and never had an issue with them. by setting up the direct debit the min payment is always made on time, to the person who bought the shoes then cut the card up you must have known when you bought them, you get documentation when you sign up for it so you have details of who to call so why didnt you pay the same day that you cut the card up if you hate cards that much. have to say the customer services are always helpful whenever i call. i cant understand the people who complain they pay late and get charged and the £20 missed payment fee isnt as high as some peoples, you know when you open the card you know you have to make a payment a month later the 56 days is just the interest free period not take the stuff and ignore us for 56 days then moan when you get charged period. the cards are very handy for me, yes i pay more in the long run but i dont have the cash to buy £30 pairs of jeans etc so paying a little every month that i can budget for suits me and i am a very happy creation finance customer
  • I'm trying to cancel my Brantano card but when I phone the number on the back of the card it says this service is no longer available. I've had my card for years and haven't used it for a long time either but would like to cancel it to bring my credit rating down. Does anyone have an up to date number for them?
