Parking eye court threat

Back last year I received several letters about parking at the Holiday Inn car park - however I ignored these. I had visited the holiday inn (the date claimed) to pay another installment on our wedding package and discuss added extras for our package.
I'd also visited holiday in several times before and after and never had a letter of a charge.
I have now had a letter today from the County business centre in Northampton with a charge of £175.
With forms to fill out and send back to them.
I don't want to get a ccj on my credit file, and worried about what to do. I've emailed the holiday inn in regards to this, as they obviously employee parking eye to run their car park, to see if they have some sway to this.
I've always been advised to ignore private parking letters of the threat.
Any advice would be great!

While they were blunt, ignoring a private parking ticket hasn't been the correct thing to do since the Protection of Freedoms act came into effect in 2012.
You'll only get a CCJ on your file if you a) get taken to court, b) loose at court (either by ignoring it or failing to present a good enough case) and c) failing to pay the judgement within the time limit (if you pay after the CCJ is recorded, the debt goes away but the black mark doesn't).
as Willing2Learn says, you should make a post on the parking board for specific advice. As you were a legitimate user you could still get the ticket canceled, but time is of the essence.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.
