Spending in Cape verde

We currently have a nationwide flexplus account and was wondering whether we should just use that for spending in cape verde as theres no overseas fees now or is it best to get a money spending card from someone like starling etc.?

Apparently Cape Verde has its own "closed" currency, only available on the islands.

    Q. What is the currency and where can I get some?
The currency is the Cape Verdean escudo or CV esc which can only be obtained in the islands. You can take Sterling or Euros to exchange. The fixed exchange rate is 110 CV Esc to €1. We recommend that you take Sterling to exchange or use debit and credit cards to withdraw local currency.. Currently only Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Cash points are in major towns and airports however we recommend that you do not rely solely on these and if island hopping Escudos are more advisable on the less touristic islands.

Your Nationwide card will be good, however the usual mantra here is sound advice - always take a back up card.

Starling is my recommendation. Incidentally its not a "money spending card" - it's a debit card.

Metrobank debit card will incur fees, CV is not in SEPA.

Don't take out more CV Escudos than you'll need - you won't be able to exchange them elsewhere.
