question about phone video resolution
Do phones often have an issue whereby if you make a video where when you turn the video on it is like looking through glass like seeing through your phone, then you get a higher resolution like 1280x720. Whereas if making it so the phone is like a mirror then the video is lower like 640x480?

First of all, it's different cameras - front one for mirror and back one for video. Usually, they have different resolutions - check your specifications.0
