Failed switch - urgent

Hi,

I used Cheap Energy Club before christmas to switch from EDF to British Gas. It took ages, I heard nothing from British Gas, but eventually the 'switch in progress' message disappeared.

However, EDF still think I am a customer, and I have now also paid a direct debit to First Utility. What has happened?

Could someone at the Cheap Energy Club look into this with some urgency? I have emailed the details to energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com.

Thank you,

Dave

  • An acknowledgement from CEC, and confirmation that this is being looked into would be much appreciated. So far: nothing.
  • Similar concerns Dave.........I used CEC on 7th Feb. and deal was with current supplier, Scottish Power. My CEC account said switch proceeding but I have heard nothing yet. When I phoned Scottish Power on Monday they knew nothing! I have emailed CEC twice and just had stock response email. Nobody to phone either. The deal finishes on the 28th.

Suggest contacting CEC not a forum is your first step .
  • Would somebody from Cheap Energy Club please acknowledge my emails? All that has happened is that the emails I sent them have come echoed back to my inbox.

I have. It says so in the post. They have not acknowledged me.
  • There's a chance that they have incompetent with my data, as I now have two companies taking direct debits from my account. If they do not get back to me I will report this to the Information Commissioner for breach of GDPR laws.
  • I'd ask one of the suppliers to check Ecoes the electricity national database it should tell them exactly what's going on.

Normally old suppliers have up to 6 weeks to send a final bill and close an account after you leave them and many will continue to take payment for this time even though you're with the new supplier who will also be taking payment
  • .........CEC claim to respond to emails within 2 days........now into third day and I have had no response whatsoever to two emails sent. Why do they have no phone contact?
