Vodafone upgrade options

Hi
My 12month SIMO started 7th Jan 2017 so I assume it should end 7th Jan 2018 however the Vodafone website is telling me I'm able to do a SIMO upgrade from 24th Oct 2017.
Is this just their way of retaining me before my contract is up for renewal?
thanks!

Yes. Note that it doesn't "end". If you do literally nothing it will carry on indefinitely. Upgrade, give 30 days' notice 30 days (ideally) before 7th January OR request a PAC after that and use it within 30 days.
