    Happened to see a new TSB on the iOS App Store yesterday. It seems it's a brand new app, not an update to the existing one so it hadn't downloaded automatically (and I now have two TSB apps side-by-side, temporarily).

    The interface is slicker, and it now supports fingerprint ID (a good thing, the last app's character entry is less secure). Some reviews comment on no available balance showing, but I haven't recently made any transactions on my account so I can't comment.

    Anyway, not as good as Nationwide, but seems slicker and quicker than first direct.

    Anyone have a preference for any other bank apps?

    There are lots of issues with the new app but the main one for me is the size of the font. It's ridiculously large, can only see a few transactions at a time.

If you want to logout, the app asks "Are you sure you want to log out?" and displays your name in enormous writing too. I don't know why it shows your name at all; does TSB think we might have forgotten who we are?

    Ok seems like I am one of the few that likes the new app. I like that only needs a finger print to log in so I don't have to type my passcode or selection of characters to get into my account. It is easy to use. I like how I can see all my accounts together or each separately.

    How are their requirements on Android for the new app as compared to the old?

    On Apple the requirement has only gone up by a .1 version of an OS, so the change shouldn't cut any devices off that hadn't already been done a little while back.

    Still wish they wouldn't up their requirements at all as they're just helping the technology companies to get more money out of people.

    It's likely the old app is tied into Lloyd's platform and won't work when TSB move to their own platform early next year*

    *originally scheduled for the weekend of 4/5 November but moved to 2018 as it is " just two days after the widely anticipated first base rate rise in the UK for over a decade." and it " will enable TSB to focus on communicating the effects of the widely anticipated base rate increase to its five million customers over the weekend of 4/5 November."

    I installed the app (Android) last week following their text prompts. I donít have any issues with it myself. It does everything I want, which admittedly is probably less than some people as I tend to use my PC for online banking rather than mobile apps. Iíve checked battery utilisation and havenít noticed any undue drain. I do have a habit of closing all apps after use anyway; force stopping if necessary. No idea why it needs access to microphone. Iím guessing maybe SMS and contacts for use with PayM or similar if TSB offer that? But thatís purely a guess. Itís not a service I use.

    The old app still works on iOS too. I'll be switching at the last minute too; my iPad doesn't have Touch ID so I can't see any features that make me want to switch earlier.

    On the android google play store, where people (like me) have left a huge number of negative reviews because the app doesn!!!8217;t work at all, the developers appear to have left the same reply to everyone:

    Since my earlier comments I have used the app more recently and it seems to work very well now. It has fingerprint login, which is good, I can easily see my account balances and transactions and I can move money out using the app, so I am quite happy with it now.
    Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.

    For anyone else like me who is unable to use the new app, TSB have just confirmed to me on Twitter that any switching incentives are yours to keep if you close your account.


    (I thought that would be the case but was unable to check the T&Cs of the particular deal I switched with.)
