Hidenda - threatening me to make a second claim

Options
I used Hidenda many years ago (I think 5-10 years ago) for a PPI claim. It was successful and I considered that to be the end of it.

Hidenda now want me to try and put in another claim and are wanting me to sign another letter of authority. They state on the letter "Please make sure we are in receipt of the signed forms by 22/11/2016 in accordance with our contract which you have signed".

As far as I was concerned, the PPI claim went through and that was it. Surely I am not contracted for life for this company to keep putting in claims? If I was, surely they wouldn't be asking me to sign letters of authority?

Anyone else have this issue and what was the outcome? Are there any template letters I could send them to state that I do not want to use their services anymore and that I am not obliged to do so?

What did the original contract say?

It doesn't sound as if they are threatening you, though.

Your contract is considered over once the firm you are complaining about has given their outcome and the CMC has taken their cut.

If you have not signed a new contract, then they cannot do a thing about it. Indeed, their behaviour is sly and underhand and being done only on the off chance you may get a further payment (many are). The CMC has no right to that extra money in those cases unless they can show they have been involved in the process. A new letter of authority would satisfy that. Whereas in reality, they are doing nothing new.

I don't have the original contract... this was years ago after I got funds back and so did they. I had no need to my knowledge to keep it as I considered it finished business...

The quote that I included is actually in bold and is basically saying that if I don't sign forms and return, I will be in breach of contract. To me, that is threatening further action if I don't comply... and I do wonder if people are signing it based on that rather than wanting to do another PPI claim. It does seem underhand to me. I just don't want to end up with a £500 admin fee from them from non-return.

You should raise a complaint. Indeed, maybe send a copy to the legal ombudsman as this appears to be more along the lines of fraud than just a breach in the CMC rules.

  • They've agreed to not pursue me thankfully. I suspect they hope that people just send back signed forms based on their letters mentioning contracts signed... Thnx.

Dear Sirs we are sorry you feel this way that was not our intention. We are simply requesting you complete a new letter of authority as financial institutions will not accept any LOA 'Letter of Authority' once it is 6 months or older. That is the only reson we requested a new LOA. We would not do this had the bank informed us of ll the PPI you had taken. This is purley in your interest as their is potentially more refund available and it is under the existing contract which you kindly signed. We do hope this resolves the matter and you will kindly return the LOA we sent you. Regards Hidenda

What a beautifully written note. I hope you pay your proof readers well.

Do note the post was deleted because there was no way to verify the source as actually the company concerned.

No point discussing a poorly-worded troll posting any further..
  • Hi
Did you write a complaint to Hidenda, exactly the same thing has happened to us and I would like to know what you did please?
