Sat 27/Sun 28th June - What small DFW things will you do this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Good morning DFW-Devotees,
Thanks Ziggy.
Quick post because I've again already spent twenty minutes procrastinating and I'm off to a free 5km ParkRun event this morning.
New Era Week 7:
:grinheart Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight. Done.
:grinheart Clear out emails.
:grinheart Check out how much broadband data we've used.
:grinheart Finish housework with Stardrops and washable microfibre cloths.
:grinheart Reconcile finances spreadsheet.
:grinheart Do Royal Mail Surveys.
:grinheart Talk to OH about what we're going to do this weekend, within budget. Hoping to pop over to the Isle of Arran tomorrow now that ferry tickets have come down in price. Will take a packed lunch.
:grinheart Check Tesco Clubcard points, Nectar point, Quidco and TopCashBack.
:grinheart Buy cheap HDMI cable.
:grinheart Sell OH's old laptop on eBay. We've bought a new one in a sale using money from selling 'junk' from around the house and adding £20 to it.
Good luck with your Devotions, Devotees.

Nice and sunny here today, if a bit windy.
List for today:

Finish clearing and tidying front garden and move in some new pots of flowers (got rained off yesterday). Pick any produce that is ready More mangetout and strawberries today
Grocery delivery this evening, will need to top up with one or two things that are cheaper at Lidls, probably tomorrow.

Water anything that needs it later Done
Any surveys that are available None today
Stick to diet! Seeing your post yesterday, I don't fancy tablets that might have nasty side effects either Foxgloves  Done ok today
Hope everyone has a good day

Hi All
Can not believe my luck. Have just checked my currys account and my exploded washer was bought last july 2014 and so is still under warranty. Apart from crying with laughter when he tried to sell me a 5 year extended warranty I have it booked in 1 july 2015 for an engineer to come out. What a bonus.
made 3 sponges and roast pork in oven. Ready for a busy day.
Mr T has delivered. all put away.
Have a great day all.
Maria x:D0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for the start Ziggy. Hope that your fb friend buys the pic.
Maria, great news about the warranty!
Ally, enjoy your run
Dawn/foxgloves, it makes scary reading  however the scales say I have lost 2lb since Wednesday when I was given the tablets (and thats just the thought of taking them!!)
Hello to everyone else who follows.
Bit of a mixed bag for me today, as its my birthday and we have my parents/sis/niece coming over for the day. My parents were due to fly out to the Imperial hotel in Tunisia tomorrow where yesterdays shootings were around. Obviously they aren't going now but they have been going to the same hotel at least 3 times a year for many years and they feel devasted for the families who've lost loved ones obviously but also for the staff etc of the hotel who they know/and who know them and whose lives centre around tourisim. So there is a sadness hanging around
Little list from me as I'm taking it easy today!
Swagbucks apps running
free entertainment in the form of darts in the garden, board games, play with the kids etc
Staying home so a nsd
Better go as sounds like a car arriving
Following :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -
Hey everyone,
I always still reading on the post but didn't comment last week, I can't remember why!
Thanks Ziggy and Ally for the start to the thread.
Ziggy- I hope your friend does decide to buy
Maria - fab news on the washing machine. I always end up with my things just being out of warranty! So annoying.
Right things to do for this weekend.
*[STRIKE]Dust the house as father in law and his partner are coming over on Monday to visit us [/STRIKE]- DONE :j
* [STRIKE] Decide what to buy and make a shopping list of food for this week. [/STRIKE] - DONE :j
* decide where to go to buy different things
* checks emails
* check sites to see if I can get any freebies today
* [STRIKE] clean the guest bathroom and put in my two recent purchases (I had 20% off and one product was half price) [/STRIKE] - DONE - looks fab and very tidy without the clutter in there! :j:T
* check surveys
* enter a few competitions
* [STRIKE] make sandwiches for lunch! My partner is terrible and will just go to the shop and buy sandwiches. Drives me insane as the bread gets wasted. [/STRIKE] - DONE:j
* Sort out my shoe cupboard and sell/ donate/ get rid of any shoestring/ clothes that I won't be wearing.
I think that's about it for this weekend!
Have a fab one, everybody.

Hi Everyone
It's been a nice relaxing day so far. Some money saving actions today
- took bike lock back to Decathlon for a replacement. Zero cost. Also got them to look at my brake which wasn't quite right. Also free.
- Popped into library. Took out 1 children's book to qualify for the loyalty points so then had enough for a free movie hire. We've gone for one of the Penguins of Madagascar films.
- Used £2.50 off of our small top up shop in nectar points. Have another £2 on there so that will soon be another reward off.
- Got paid £35 for my work last weekend so I've used that straight towards my stretch target of another £150 I want to pay by end of July. CC1 is now very close to another milestone number (£4,000)
- Went to support another cafe we like whilst son was at his dance class. Spent £9.20 in there on 2 coffees and 2 cakes but went to Mr T for a pack of cheap pitta, tub of hummus and £1 pack of sliced cheese for us to make a cheap picnic for lunch. The sandwiches are really good in the cafe but I can't justify £5 for 2 of us plus coffee.
- We cycled all our journies except 1 as we had to use the tube to get to Decathlon so spent £2 on travel but saved another £10 in total for neither of us using public transport all day.
- Will be making pasta sauce from scratch later and offering if anyone would like to eat up the last two portions of home made lasagne or making pasta with sauce from items we already have. Cheap tea
- We sat by the river in our local park and had lollies from a multi pack purchased with the free nectar rewards. Must cheaper than buying 1 individual lolly in the shops.
Hannah - Happy birthday! how scary that your parents may have been at the exact spot the terrible incident happened in. I am sure it will take a while for the shock to go away. How wonderful they are safe though and not over there worrying you at home.
Maria - really glad your washing machine was covered.

Hi all
Awful about this Tunisia business, my heart goes out to anyone caught up in.
Maria great news about the washing machine!
OH wanted to go to the out of town shopping centre for something this morning. I wasnt going to go with him as its depressing going to the shops when you dont have any money! In the end I did go and spent £10 on a few things that were necessary.
Going to a friends birthday bbq tonight. Dont want to go really, not sure why, everyone else is really looking forward to it. I have been nominated to drive so I will be sober and worrying about the teenagers and alcohol while everyone else is being silly! Oh get me being a proper Mrs Grumpy!!!
I shall return in a more cheery frame of mind I promise.0 -

:bdaycake: Happy Birthday, lovely lady! :bdaycake: Wishing you a wonderful day (and birthday weekend)
FB Friend - I sent her a pic and offered to personalise with childs name but nope "I'll leave it this time" - bit gutted but one less gift to make when my friend has her baby
I cant imagine how you and your parents must be feeling, I personally want to hold my loved ones closer
Been a lovely day here and hubster managed to spend a while just sat in garden and then once son was home from his cinema trip (for a friends bday) we got the swingball out and had a bit of fun.
I don't know if you have a swingball or even if you enter comps (I enter lots and it can be addictive
) but Highland Spring have a competition on their site to win Swingball or mini tennis sets - you are allowed to enter every day, no cost and can win both prizes, I have won the Swingball which I gave my grandson so am now still entering for the other prize.
