Morning everybody,
Determined - so sorry to hear about your mum and your job. Thinking about you.
Hannah - Happy birthday for yesterday, I feel so rude not to have noticed! I hope you had a good one.
So I managed to get quite a lot done yesterday, although I had an impromptu visit from my mum so I didn't get everything finished.
Today's list:
* clean out cupboard of shoes and dresses. See what I will sell/donate/recycle.
* hang out clothes and put other away
* begin to sort out boy clothes for my sister in law. I need room for all the stuff she's giving us for our baby girl and she has a boy and girl twin so he can have all the things we don't need now. At least they will be going somewhere useful.
* sort through other things to sell on fave auction site, although I'm not very good at getting p&p correct.
Have a great Sunday everybody.Former Debt free wannabe. Now trying to save for a rainy day!0 -
Hello everyone:j
Determined - much love to you xxx
Well I am out of hospital now, things went fairly well, but with the weather as it is just now I am not expecting to stay out particularly long
I have a new PICC and have decided to invest in a cover for showering rather than keep using plastic bags etc. I think they are grossly overpriced, but its so fiddly otherwise, and as this one is in my right arm I have been trying to do it all left handed which isnt very easy, its worth the £ to save the stress.
Admissions always seem to end up expensive for me, as once I am well enough to I tend to get coffee etc each day to get myself off the ward. I was relatively careful this time, and refused to pay £50+ for a weeks tv:eek::eek::eek: but still managed to spend more than I would have liked:(
I have become addicted to surveys and the like and am making a reasonable amount from them too. Im averaging about £10 a week in Nectar points from Nectar Canvass, and have just requested my first £20 from Inboxpounds (has taken about a month). I am waiting for a £40 Amazon voucher for a longer study I took part in, will get another £10 Amazon in 2 weeks from MobilExpression and £10 from Shop and Scan once I transmit my data to them! Its amazing how fast it is building up and I am looking forward to treating myself to a fancy coffee machine :coffee: I need to do probably just one more Global Test Market survey and then I will be able to get about £30 worth of rewards, not quite sure what to go for yet.
Those who do Shop and Scan, did you find it becomes habitual? At the moment I am finding it a bit of a faff and forgot to zap my total spend in the right place yesterday. Also, do you do absolutely everything you buy or just a proportion of it? I know it is meant to be everything but I am supposing they wont know anyway if I happen to miss some?
Today should be a NSD I hope. I actually didnt get any sleep at all last night so am about to try now, then later will be going to Mass but otherwise just a quiet day

FaithCeilia- nice to have you back. Hope you heal well.
Just spent 2 hours tidying and weeding the front garden. It's amazing how full on pulling out weeds and strimming can be. Now sat down with an early lunch of sandwiches and coffee.
Both the houses on either side of us have just had driveways put on their front gardens that look very neat and tidy so all of a sudden our garden looks a bit odd sandwiched by all the empty space.
Have done a bit of housework too, dishwasher on, washing on, & tidied around upstairs.
Yorkshire -I would see the Admin you are doing as financially beneficial too. I don't know how you do it all but I tend to throw any statements into the shredding pile as soon as a new one arrives. So that also reminds me to update my spreadsheets etc with new figures, which keeps me on top of how much interest I am getting or paying on whatever it is. Clean filing system healthy finances??" We also went to the £1 shop and bought all the toiletries etc we needed plus masking tape (for the painting), some sink unblocker as the sink is very smelly
For freshening the sink I tend to put a few spoons of bi-carb in the plug hole, followed by a glug of vinegar (which causes a big fizz) - leave overnight and then in the morning flush with boiling water

The filing and office decluttering is going well here. Just found a payslip from back in the days before DS became ill and I had a well paid management job. Of course back then we spent far more than both of us earned never imagining what might happen.
But we dont look back do we? Onwards and upwards is the only way.
Going to put breadmaker on in a bit to make hm pizza for tea, will use some leftover chilli as a base and make a meat feast type pizza - always goes down well here.
faithcecilia I am new here so dont know your story but I hope you are enjoying being back in your own home.
Right, tea break then more to do. OH and DS have gone to pick up some paving flags donated by a friend, we can use these in the garden near the greenhouse which at the moment is a bit of an eyesore. Like everything this has to be done on a very tight budget which actually makes it more rewarding.0 -
So in between the down pours more progress has been made in the garden this time the back. Our neighbours have put up a really nice fence for the first time since it fell down about 3 years ago:rotfl: so it is really nice to have our privacy back. The garden feels more defined all of a sudden too. Husband has been busy pruning back a rosemary bush and a bay tree that had both got a bit out of control and now he's hanging bunches of them to dry in the porch. They look really pretty.
We wandered down to the shops earlier as I had to get the teachers end of year present sorted. I bought gift cards using my reward credit card that will be paid off in full tommorow. I will earn points on that which are great for all sorts. I have the cost of September's back to school shoes already in vouchers from that method. Plus I earned 100 nectar points.
Going to do last night's pasta bake for dinner reheated with a fresh salad.
All in all a relaxing and productive weekend.
Yorkshire - I know what you mean. Before I went self employed we used to be the same. I occasionally have to look over old payslips and feel the same. But as you say onwards!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Thanks, Ziggy.
After three doses and the smell still lingering I have tracked it down to the old kitchen/study (which is near the sink in the 'now' kitchen) and it is water that has got under the lino when I defrosted the freezer a few weeks back
Luckily it's a very small room (and very hastily laid lino!) so I will take it up, wash dry and put back down again but not today, I am making hay while the sun shines pottering in the garden.

Pay day this weekend so big money sorting out time!
- paid off the debt to my mum which she lent me in 2009! I've repaid about 1.5k in total, paid the last £110 today, as this is a good pay month!
- done a 0% balance transfer of £1100 for a year - £130 was accruing interest and another £1000 of 0% was due to expire early August.
- set up a regular savers account - I get an increased rate for being a HSBC Advance account, so I've set up £30 a month to put into that for an emergency fund.0
