If house prices crash we will go into mass recession it will never happen again like it did before, however i do predict a slight downturn in the near future and a long static period.0

Everytime people think this time its different... well.... er IT NEVER IS !0

This is the new paradigm. Recessions and house market crashes are a thing of the past. They will never happen again. Pretty soon, we'll have to remove them from the dictionary because they will never be needed again.fitterastra wrote:If house prices crash we will go into mass recession it will never happen again like it did before, however i do predict a slight downturn in the near future and a long static period.0

Ah yes, the famous housepricecrash.co.uk.
Beloved of FTbers and be-loathed by Kirstie Allsops up and down the land.
Although I seem to recall that that website's been predicting armageddon for a good few years now.
Not to say it won't happen at some time, but there seem to be an awful lot of sell-to-renters on that site who have been sitting on their equity an awful long time...
The one stat that I read on there that freaked me out a little is that, if we think property prices in the UK are crazy, in Ireland they're now 8 times the average salary, so there *could* be a good few years to go before the big bang. Gaah....0 -

Good God! 8 times salary..... seriously?
meanmachine, can you pop up the link to that page please?
and theres me thinking the worlds gone mad at 6 times salary!....I'd better not make any Irish jokes (the g/f is a bog trotter and she'd kill me!).
I wonder whether this is mirrored in places like Bulgaria, Spain, France etc. etc. where there has been a massive influx of money from overseas (UK money usually) but the local wages have not risen to match the new "investors" cash pile or borrowing power?0
