RAC Car Insurance Self Service Centre Con

Options
I Don't know if all insurance companies will go this way or not (they mustbe mad or have a conscience if they don't), but this service is a complete con.RAC launched an online self service centre some time ago, where you can go inand make changes to your details:-

View and Download your policy

Change your vehicle (although I think they mean notify them that you havechanged your vehicle rather than get a new motor!)

Change your address and contact details

Make payments and change your payment details.

Here's the con,

YOU go onto the web site, YOU make all the changes (not a customer servicesrep) and then YOU pay £25!!!!!!! yes that's right you do all the work and theycharge you £25 for it.

I thought that the Airport development fee (currently £10 per head at outlocal Airport) was a nice fiddle for them but at least they occasionally planta couple of shrubs and run up a flag for past war heroes in an attempt atjustifying the charge, but this really takes the prize for the rip off of thedecade.

I really need to know how I can get away with setting up a service where myclients do all the work and I charge them for the privilege. :T

It's a charge for recalculating the policy when you change details.

It's a valid charge. £25 may be the minimum change fee.

These fees would have been outlined when you purchased the policy. If you did not like, you should have changed to a different insurer.

No they were Not outlined, No they are Not valid and your probably right, £25 is possibly the minimum, they would likely charge much more if they thought they could get away with it.

Seems standard practice for most insurance companies, certainly not a con. Would be great with out it though.

I think many more charge more than £25.
