What are you paying for AA cover (existing members)

Just been on the phone to the AA as my cover has gone up since last year. I have been a member since 2002 and never complained about the price or service (should be lack of service).
My cover is roadside, relay, and home start for both me and my mam.
This year the price became - £24.95 per month, so that's nearly £300 a year
I have rang them up and they are unwilling to lower the fees, so my only options are - remove relay cover which brings it down to £20.63 a month, or remove home start which lowers the price down to £17.46 a month. I have opted for the latter, but still feel this is a high price for something that a new customer can get for £75

Go to topcash back and see if RAC offer is listed.
Same enough service, quarter of the money, loyality is expensive and taken for granted.Be happy...;)0 -

Most insurance policies have optional breakdown cover don't they?An opinion is just that..... An opinion0

I've got membership plus a joint person, we have the relay, relay plus, home start, - this year i complained about the prices, as weve got 30yrs memebrship and they instantly took £100 off it.
I explained that I would cancel, go through topcashback so they matched the price. Def worth asking, xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
When I rang the AA about the cost of my premium they knocked £50 off. It was still much higher than new members would pay, so I cancelled my renewal and went with AutoAid. We're covered for £39.0

We've been through this all before. The AA quote a high renewal premium and rely on customer inertia to get it accepted. If you phone and grumble they'll offer a discount and rely on the customer feeling pleased that they have a bargain. I left the AA after about 20 years membership - I won't play their games. Insurance companies use the same tactics.0 -
as reacc says, but my situation is in reverse - I was with the RAC four years also with a Mondeo before I cottoned on to how the game works.
I did an online new member quote for the AA , phoned the RAC and they said they would not match the AA quote but reduced my renewal to within £20 of the AA quote as a "doodwill" gesture - I joined the AA.
Tthe next year the AA did the same so I ended up back at the RAC. I have been yo yoing ever since. Few insurance companies (which is what these polices are) offer loyalty discounts to customers. they offer cheap first year deals to get new customers and rely on a (large) portion of them blindly rolling over to renew0 -
I pay £59 a year for quoteline direct, and have had excellent service. It even includes European cover. I left the AA four years ago when they halved my renewal premium for one phone call but it was still more expensive. They are private equity owned rip off merchants.0

Anyone with a Toyota can get full AA cover for about £68 a year - this includes home start, roadside, relay, European cover. It's arranged directly through Toyota.0
