PPI Mortgage Northern Rock agreed/retracted?

Hi, I am after some advice if possible of my current situation.
Basically I appointed a ppi claims company to deal with my claim for mis-sold mortgage payment protection with Northern Rock (now NRAM).

During the time my mortgage was with Northern Rock the payment protection payments were paid to Legal and General. Since NRAM have taken over this i have been told is now Bradford and Bingley.
Following my claim I received a letter from Northern Rock on a Bradford and Bingley letterhead stating my claim was successful and as a result they are offering me the sum of £2995.00. This document had all the correct information (ie my account number, mortgage details etc).

However, the claims company 2 weeks later chased the cheque with Northern Rock/Nram to then be told that there was no record of the claim or the letter offering me compensation.
I phoned Northern Rock who advised bradford and bingley do deal with the payment protection insurance but they have no record of this offer.?
Northern Rock have asked me to obtain proof from my bank account of all the payments made from 2002 to 2010 to Legal & General.
Northern Rock have also advised me to retract my claim via the claims company I have appointed and submit a new claim on my own?

I am completely baffled. I have been given an offer in writing from Bradford and Bingley with all my ppi mortgage details on with liability from them they believe it was mis-sold to then be told no evidence of any paperwork or decision on there system and to re-apply???

Anyone had a similar situation occur? Not sure what the next route to take is?

They're telling you to get rid of the claims company, because you can easily make this complaint yourself.
You could send a copy of the offer letter to Nram and see what they say.
Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi
  • Does that not mean that as I have already signed paperwork with claims complete to act on my behalf i can just cancel this?

Although, Nram have stated they have received no offer so in effect I should be able to re-submit on my own?
I have requested that NRAM do not disclose any information to third parties in relation to this.

Did B&B actually sell you the L&G insurance or did a broker?

  • No B&B did not sell me the legal and general ppi.

I had no dealings direct with Northern Rock in relation to my mortgage, this was arranged via the financial advisor at Birchell Edwards Estate Agents.

I never received any paperwork in relation to this, but obviously I received the letter of offer from B&B which i have been advised by Nram are the people currently dealing with ppi mortgage claims?

I didnt think so as I dont recall them offering L&G products. In which case why you are complaining to B&B?

B&B/NR deal with their own complaints about their own products. Not those arranged by third parties.

  • i have not involved b&b in this process.I submitted a claim to nram to then receive an offer letter from b&b?
I was completely confused as to how they were involved however nram have confirmed to me that b&b are currently dealing with ppi claims with nram?

So ive had a ppi offer which came from b&b via the company letterhead etc with all my mortgage details on to then be told by nram there is no record of this and that it should of been on nram letterheaded paper???

I am confused as it makes no sense?

iv been told by nram that b & b have merged with that so they think what has happened is that the offer was valid its just that they have sent it out with the wrong letter head on as advisors in their complaints dept work on behalf of nram and b & b and they think that whichever advisor worked on the complaint and genertaed the offer they have unfortunately not logged it all on my account and have advised that i submit a fresh claim but cut the third party claims company out of loop, i am just worried that if i am successful in my claim directly that the claims company will try and take me to court for their cut, nram are saying that wont be the caser as they have no record of them, making the original claim (although the claims companu have the same offer letter i have from b & b in their possession!! its all very confusing. advice would be appreciated about what i should do next.

So, what product are NRAM actually refunding on seeing as the L&G product was not theirs?

  • I paid my ppi premiums to northern rock, they have confirmed to me yesterday that legal and general were there accredited insurer for ppi . Since NRAM took over they appointed b&b as insurer so I believe that's where some of the confusion as come from.
