Debenhams Sales Tactics

Hi
Hoping for a little advice Re: Debenhams Sale, last weekend.
I ordered some glasses online, to be collected in store.
After payment was taken, I received an email, saying order was being processed and would be contacted shortly (18/11).
On 19/11 received new email saying order had been cancelled- unable to fulfil, payment refunded.
Went online today and items are back in stock, at full price again.
Rang Debenhams today, spoke to a lady who told me it was the warehouse that had no stock on Sunday 18th, that they were back in stock, but only at full price.
Debenhams T's & C's seem to be a little 'grey' as to when they actually accept contact being formulated, even though they are quite happy to take payment.
Could you please advise whether its worth pursuing with Debenhams, or possibly raising a case with Trading Standards.
Many Thanks

Their T&Cs seem quite clear to me...Debenhams T's & C's seem to be a little 'grey' as to when they actually accept contact being formulated, even though they are quite happy to take payment.
They go on to say...2.5 Unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it, order acceptance and the creation of the contract between you and us will take place at the point the products you have ordered are despatched from our warehouse to be delivered to the address you have given us.
So, up until the goods are dispatched, they can refuse you order and refund any monies paid.It does not take place until that stage, even though we may have debited your card (see 2.3 above) or we have sent acknowledging emails (see 2.4 above).0 -
Fairly standard.
A certain amount of stock is sold at a "special offer" price and when this has run out the new stock is sold at the full price again.
Tesco Direct are also very good at this.0 -
Although Debenhams are acting within the law, it's certainly worth complaining by email. You never know they may give you some sort of goodwill gesture.0

You would be in the front row if it was though, wouldn't you?
Go on... Admit it.... Everyone else has gone to bed.......;)
Yes I would be in the front row, so that I could throw rotten tomatoes.
Well you have bored me so much that I'm off to bed now.0 -
