Hi forum members.
First post.
I took a 5 yr loan with liverpool Victoria in 2004, paid off in 2009. Liverpool Victoria no longer provide loans, can I still claim? I assume I can.
Also I had a credit card with alliance and leicester, this passed to Abbey automatically when they took over a&l, then this passed to mbna when they took over the credit card customers.
I ve had varying debt on the card through its life time. It had ppi and has now it with mbna, I don't recall asking or being asked by salesperson on the phone.
Question is do I claim from all 3 providers?
Or from mbna ? They took on the customers and the liabilities.
Thanks in advance.
I,ll post claim progress on here.

Hi and welcome
I was successful in reclaiming from LV back about 2 years ago, and if the company are still active and not closed down you can still make a reclaim.
In regards of the credit card, whoever is looking after the account now, I'm aware you write to them as they would have taken over all the liabilities as well, so even if you did write to A&L/Abbey, its possible MBNA would still be dealing with the complaints.
To make a reclaim, you complete the reclaim questionnaire on step 3 below, send to their head offices of complaints dept, they normally have 8 weeks but may write to ask for more time if required.
Remember to keep copies of your questionnaires as well, good luck.

Hi Di,
wonder if you can assist. I had several loans with the alliance & leicester in the 1990s which definitely had ppi. Unfortunately, I shredded all of the paperwork many years ago and don't have any of the loan reference numbers and unable to trace through internet banking.
Is there any way I can possibly contact them without this information?
kind regards

Hi Charlie
I will try.;)
Whether or not they will still hold the details of these accounts, its not guaranteed but worth an ask.
First of all I would suggest is to call directly into the branch if you have a local one and ask them to check through the computer systems for you.
Another way would be to check online if you have online banking with the bank you paid the loan direct debits, this normally allows you to go back to about 2002, the account numbers is normally shown next to the loan repayments.
If you need to contact them without the details, maybe the postal code date of birth and so on may help, and anything you can remember in order to make it easier for the to try tracking your accounts down.
Do you remember when you settled/paid off these accounts by any chance? The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi Di,
Many thanks for your help. I know at the time they were telephone applications and in those days as you know you couldn't take out a loan without this ppi being added on.
I will certainly get in touch with them and see how things pan out.
kind regards

As the loans were taken out & settled in the 1990s, my internet banking history unfortunately does not go that far back.
I decided to phone Santander who apparently have taken over from A & L and they were worse than useless. The wanted to know exact loan numbers and were unable to take any personal details over the phone. I asked them if I could write in with personal details in an attempt to trace these loans and they grudingly gave me an address:
Santander
PO Box 1111
Bradford
BD1 9NQ
I asked them about obtaining a SARS report and was told to write in with whatever questions I needed to know about??? Do these organisations not need to keep signed copies of our credit agreements indefinitely?
Do you think it would be worthwhile in asking for a SARS report, I'm not sure what information this gives customers and whether I need to send a cheque to cover this request?
I look forward to hearing from you.
kind regards

Hi Charlie
I have never had any dealings with this business myself and hopefully someone who have done will come along with some useful info for you.
However, if you SAR them, and they cannot provide you with the data, they must return your payment and a letter to explain.
SAR letter template if you want to go this direction.

Unfortunately, it seems that on closed accounts, they say they're unable to provide the agreements because the account is no longer open, yet on one of mine (different bank) I was told the same, but when requested for a SAR, it appeared, strange I think. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I contacted them as you know recently to try to obtain a SARS report. I dont have account numbers to hand and they are insisting that without them I cannot gain access on products I had with them? Not sure if they can do this?
My personal details have not changed since time of application, have you come across this obstruction before?
kind regards

Hi Charlie
I understand they are supposed to keep data going back to at least the last 6 years, and sometimes companies hold data from even earlier years.
If you can just try getting hold of the account number that would be all you will need.
Have you also tried calling into a local branch for the info you require as well?;)
Its also known that local branches may hold some of the details, and the data depts do not on details prior to the last 6 years. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
