I have been using the web space for several months now and I agree it is difficult finding out the information but it really is quite simple. the information is on the talktalk web site but not very easy to find.
Here is a brief summary of steps to get your web space up and running.

1. assign a web adress. You need to get to the broadband dashboard. Either go through the My Account sign on on the TalkTalk home page and then select any of the options under the broadband section on the LHS of the page.
Or go straight to the dashboard http://supportcentre.talktalk.net/ and sign in using the User Name / Password that talktalk gave you for your landline number.
There are tabs on the menu where you can create your e-mail addresses or your web space name and password.

2. You can now upload your site using FTP in internet explorer or any other utility.
ftp://www.xx.talktalk.net where xx is the web address you created in step 1
you will need to enter the user i.d. xx@talktalk.net and password yy
which were created in step 1.
