Hi all,
I've had 2 quotes for new boilers, switching to combi from the existing standard boiler. The first is for a WB 30CDi and the 2nd is for a Viessmann Vitodens 100. The Viessmann is slightly cheaper, but not enough to make much of a difference to the decision. Both are approved installers and we get 5 years warranty. The Viessmann includes 10 years on the heat exchange, I'm not sure but think the WB does as well.
I've done some reading, posted on another forum but just wanted a bit more advice before making the final decision. The suggestions are that the 100 series hasn't been great and servicing in the future will be easier for the WB as they're more common.
So, are we right to just go for the WB or is there a good reason to go for the V instead? We won't be getting any more quotes, so another boiler isn't an option.

Good afternoon: I've been following your thread on the other forum.;) The OH installs Vaillant and Viessmann...I would recommend the Viessmann Vitodens 200 W over the WB. Viessmann parts are readily available as are RGIs familiar with Viessmann products (check the Find an Installer facility on the Viessmann website)...in fact an experienced RGI should be able to service and repair boilers from any manufacturer (unless he/she is a one trick pony:D).
Perhaps for the benefit of fellow MSErs you could post the details of your quotations...always helps having another comparison.
Bottom line is...a boiler is only as good as its installation and annual servicing.

The quotes are pretty similar. The basic stuff is:
Thermostatic radiator valves to 7 rads, remove old boiler & water tanks, new larger gas supply to boiler location, new rad in airing cupboard where hot water tank currently is, flush existing system, fit new boiler.
~£2300 for a Viessmann Vitodens 100 - 5 years warranty, 10 years on heat exchange
~£2500 for a Worcester Bosch 30CDi - 5 years warranty, not sure on HE
The missus wants to use someone who's been recommended by someone else, which these 2 are. So we won't be looking at any alternative quotes, so it's definitely a straight choice between these 2. So far, though I've seen some folk say the Viessmanns are good, I've not seen anyone say the 100 series is a better choice than the 30CDi.0 -

Good morning: Your RGI should be able to fit a Viessmann Vitodens 200W 30 kW combi (a superior boiler) at the same price as the WB 30 CDi( this has 10 years on its primary heat exchanger). The Vitodens 100 is an entry level product designed for the price sensitive market in the UK ( WB has done the same and produced the Greenstar Junior range...will be seeing many posts about this one on the forums in the not too distant future:eek:).
The OH would also fit as standard, a Boiler Buddy or Magnaclean as well as a scale inhibitor if you lived in a hard water area and a programmable roomstat (Honeywell or Drayton). He only fits boilers with stainless steel heat exchangers (rules out WB on that count;))
An annual service will be required to maintain the warranty.

I know this thread was a while ago; but I wondered which boiler you ended up with. I'm going through the same decision process at the moment.
Although my quotes are a lot higher than yours and that's without adding the VAT!0 -
The new series Viessmann 100 is a very well designed boiler. I've had them completely in bits and was well impressed with the quality.
The WB cdi are a bit nicer looking and slightly quieter, but although I have installed cdi's for years, I am leaning towards Viessman now.0
