Leaving it a bit late. Around 2/3rds of endowments are now time barred and the whole endowment issue is really drawing to a close. Have you tried this yourself rather than pay a company for 3 minutes work?

We hadn't really thought about it to be honest. We cashed ours in four years ago, and just dismissed the whole thing. The guy from EMC seems to think we have a claim, and from what we understand, we don't pay unless we win.

Be wary. The cold calling claims firms always say that. Some of the stuff they say is quite disgraceful in an attempt to get you to put a complaint in.
and from what we understand, we don't pay unless we win.

and if you do win you will typically end up paying around £1000 for 3 minute letter.

If we dont use the services of EMC then how do we go about getting some compensation? I am now trying to cover an expected £17,000 shortfall in my endowment

You put the complaint in yourself. It shouldnt take you 5 minutes to knock a quick letter up. Personalised letters have a statistically higher success rate than template letters as well.

You may have left it too late. Most endowments are now timebarred from complaint. You have three years from first being notified of a high risk of not hitting target (sometimes shown as a red warning).

I've logged in hundreds of claims through EMC for years so I know how the service works.

  • Hi. I made a claim through this company, and I can tell you I was very pleased I did. they took be through everything stage by stage. my policy was time barred, they took it to the financial ombudsman service and they upheld the complaint and I was paid out a lot of money, of which i might add i would never have got if these people had not been there. it took them a lot more than a few letters! as i was sent a copy of everything they wrote to all the companies. i would never hesitate to use or recommend this company time and time again.
