Hi,
I saw you post and thought that I needed to let you know of my experience with this company.
I was contacted by this company (I don't know where they obtained my details from) and advised that they would deal with my complaint of mis-selling. I provided them with the information they asked for and sat back waiting to see what would happen - after being told that I have a good chance or receiving compensation.
Unfortunately, that was the last contact I had with the company until I contacted them some time later. In that time they had received a refusal letter from the endowment company (because of time barring) and hadn't advised me of this situation. If they had advised me at the time I would then have had 6 months to lodge the complaint with the Financial Ombudsman, although I would have thought that this would have been included in their service - if it wasn't then they should have advised me, at least then I could have contacted the Financial Ombudsman myself.
If you do chose to use this company I would suggest that you keep a record of any correspondence and get regular updates on how the complaint is progressing.
However, if you don't mind filling out a few forms then try and have a go yourself - at least you won't have to pay away nearly half of any money you receive.
Good Luck.Hi,
Has anyone had any dealings with EMC re claiming mis-sold endowments. We have been contacted by them re our endowments....Any advice welcome0 -
I was contacted by EMC earlier in the year regarding mis-sold ppi's. After sending me their paperwork, which I scrutinised extremely carefully, I decided to go ahead as my son had been made redundant and I was struggling to cope financially. One of the loan companies tried to say I had missed payments but I had all my bank statements to prove that was false. Anyway, the upshot was they got me compensation for both loans I had taken out which negated both loans way ahead of time. They also very kindly agreed to allow me three months to pay their fee, in equal instalments, so by December 2009 I will be £470 a month better off. So, they worked for me and they were extremely helpful and I would recommend them.0

Whenever firms I work for get a complaint from EMC or another claims management company I write to them explaining:
- They won't get treated any differently because they use somebody else to pursue the claim
- My client won't pay the claims management company's fees
- Making the complaint themselves is free provided they make it in good faith
- They can also go to the Financial Ombudsman Service free.

Generally they produce a letter listing lots of supposed complaints. There is a risk that if they come out with a load of porkies this could be interpreted as an attempt to defraud.
There were some figures out from the FOS a while back that showed that template letters have lower success rates than personalised complaints. Whilst no reason was given, the suggestions given in the comments was that in cases where there is no clear cut evidence and a balance of probability decision is required, the side that has been least reliable in the information supplied is the one that is ruled against. So, a claims company listing a load of reasons they may not apply or are easily refuted by the financial company are making it harder for your complaint to be successful.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Hi,
I've just been contact by EMC regarding my PPI on a bank loan.
I was wary at first too, but agreed to have the forms sent out to me, wherein i will scrutinise and make a more informed decision.
I'm inclined to believe them, actually. Sure they're profiting from people's laziness, but honestly, i'd never have been bothered to do anything about my PPI had they not called (and FYI, chap said they're cut is 29% inc VAT, not 40% as some others have reported) and i'd rather have some money than no money. I'm happy with them doing everything and taking a cut. I could've sorted my mortgage etc out on my own when i took it out 2 years ago, but i hired a financial advisor so he could have all the hassle. I'm an easy life kinda gal, and if EMC are happy to profit from that, then i'm happy to pay them.
I will keep a close eye on proceedings tho, and call regularly for updates. I will also keep this forum posted, as i would like to be able to offer a positive view, rather than just "Fairy Stories". :A
I'd also like to point out that just b/c you have a high post count, does not make you the font of all knowledge. Unless you have personal experience with EMC or similar companies, you should pretty much just keep your pointless, unhelpful comments to yourself rather than belittling and scaring forum members who would like to make up their own minds.0 -
