We hada day in Barcelona in 2004 and to make the most of it took one of the open top bus tours which was great as we saw loads of the city and could hop on and off where we wanted to. Would thoroughly recommend the tour of Nou Camp (Barclona FC's ground) for any footie fans in the party. We walked along the harbour for somewhere to eat and found the restaurants to all be quite expensive - one street back and there were loads of restaurants with very reasonble set menus. Have a good trip
  • Had just come on to look for the same info! (exact same dates, but we are flying to Reus insted).

    So far I have found
    http://www.hotelscomparison.com/
    and
    http://en.venere.com/hotels_barcelona
to come up with about the best hotel quotes, but if anyone has any personal recommendations (or not!) about specific hotels (budget-ish ones!) that would be great.

We went to Barcelona a couple of years ago, very nice city, but I have two top bits of advice:

    1) The Familia Sagrada (the weird looking Cathederal). Unless you want to walk around a building site don't bother paying the entrance fee. It cost us quite a bit (about 30 Euros if I remember correctly) and was a real let down.

    2) La Rambla (the market street). Keep your wallet/purse/valuables secure. The place is full of gipsy pickpockets and you have to keep your wits about you.

I hope you have a good trip - I could do with a break myself! :) and have a look here, it's the official Barcelona website:Barcelona

We (2 adults &1 child)had a trip to Barcelona in Feb. a couple years ago and stayed in The Royal Hotel right on Las Ramblas is was just what we wanted Bed and a great Breakfast, step out the hotel door and you are right in the centre, bus tours round city 1 minute away, marina a nice walk away and shops right on the door step. We flew Ryanair to Gerona, 1 hour bus trip into city which was good, lines of bus to take you to city so no problem there, 5 minute Taxi from bus drop off point to hotel.

    Hope this helps regards Stanehyve

Dumbledore, have a look at lastminute.com, they do match tickets for Barcelona which includes a stadium tour too, if your going in April the options are:
Villareal Sun 16th @ 76 euros each & Cadiz Sun 30th April 56 euros each.

Im not too sure about getting the tour only, but on a recent trip to Valencia we were able to buy stadium tour tickets from all newsagents etc near the stadium.

    Hope this helps

  • Unfortunately not there for one of the matches and although my son is a football fan, I'm not so the tour would be enough for me. The website for FC Barcelona does say you don't need to book as tickets are available form the museum but I just wondered if I could pre-book to be sure.

    Thanks for your help anyway.

The bus is good. We bought a two day pass, one bus goes one way around the city the other the other way. Did one each day. Some stops aren't worth getting off but we did, just to have a look.

Don't pay to go in the catherdrals, it's just scaffolding!

The fountains - if you're there fri, sat (poss thurs) they light up to music, i missed this but its meant to be ace!
