Help - Vodafone contract !!!! up

My parents have got themselves in a bit of a muddle with their Vodafone contract -
In August 2016 they upgraded their phones and took out a 2 year contract paying £24 a month each. My mum wanted a phone which was not in stock so had to wait 2 weeks for it to be delivered. As I know now, there was an issue with the delivery and everything had to be relisted on the system, because of this, the discount they had on their new contract was not reapplied. So for 2 years they have been paying around £28 each instead of the original £24. They didn’t realise this for sometime and didn’t bother to question Vodafone when they did realise. So 2.5 years down the line, they are 6 months overdue an upgrade and told me about the payments changing so I went into Vodafone with them to try and sort it. Which was when we realised it was Vodafone’s mistake when something happened with the delivery. Vodafone have looked into it and said no to refunding them the difference.
I don’t know where to go from here. I realise it’s been a long time, however it was their mistake in the first place.. any advice greatly appreciated!
