My DD1 lives in Germany ... I've purchased items from Amazon DE previously to be sent to her German address and this all worked fine. (As proof of what neilmcl and others have stated). Never tried to have things from Amazon DE sent here to the UK though.

in my experience they most certainly do issue a refund on a tracked item, they have organised, once in the carrier's system and before Amazon receive the return.
Of course, but that can be easily reversed. That's just a customer service courtesy. It doesn't mean the OP won't have to actually return the item!

Would It be better to just return item or wait for amazon to sort it?
I would let Amazon sort it in the first instance as you may be liable for return postage if you try and return it yourself under the standard process. Is it a big package, was it expensive?

    Hi,

you don't seem too bothered about what you've been charged, more the mystery parcel and return process.

Is it something you may have looked at or something obscure that would never be on your shopping list?

Well, there's no point worrying about it until it becomes extra debt to pay off, but yes i am bothered about it as some  in germany has hacked my account and put nearly a hundred quid on my credit card for a book i didn't look at, want or order. i hadn't even logged into my amazon account to even browse since the last purchase in 2017

Why would someone "in Germany" hack your account and then have the item sent to your own home address?

I imagine someone in Germany accidentally logged into OP's account ... or Amazon mixed up the accounts somehow. Said person in Germany is probably contacting Amazon DE to ask "Wo zur Hölle ist mein Buch?" :D

That would be quite cheep for a specialist technical or medical book.

Or even special editions. I have a couple of fiction books (not bought from Amazon admittedly) which were £75 each but the one I would really like is £345 (the wife says no :( ).
