Just been fired , Was a childcare Nursery nurse now looking for retail ; CV help?

Options
I got fired today from my nursery nurse job, not for anything bad - I just didn't meet their high standards as they were top marks with Ofsted.

I want to work in retail and have 2 years experience which was 2012-2014.
All my other jobs have been childcare.

How should I do my CV?
Should I write about the skills that I've learned in my childcare job that can help retail or just write all the skills down

When I wanted to emphasise the importance of a job I'd done 3 years previously, I changed the order of jobs on my CV and put the most relevant at the top, then listed down to the current job on the first page, then on page 2 went into the more normal reverse chronological order.

Especially highlighting the good communication skills you'd built up as a nursery nurse, communicating with children of different ages, working within a team, communicating effectively with parents, that kind of thing :)

How would i go about my desire to join retail in a cover letter?
I've never written one and not for a career change either

Don't tell potential employers that not meeting the high standards of your former employer got you sacked. I think you'll find that they all think they have high standards... ! In most employers books, not meeting their standards is something bad!

Stick 'job application sample letters' into a search engine of your choice and have a look for some guidance.

A letter alongside a CV gives you the opportunity to address the 'desired' characteristics the job vacancy has described. It's sometimes not enough just to send a CV saying I'd like the job you have advertised. You need to tell them how you are a good fit for what the job entails.

    Hope that helps.

it's hard to explain , when i said bad , i meant like it wasn't that I harmed a child or anything.

It's because I didn't come up with ways to improve tthe room (there isn't really anything to suggest other than what me & my room staff discussed) and when I did , i amde the resources for it but it was lost so it looked like i was lying about doing it. And because i didn't share outside information as we just discuss stuff like this in meetings but they wanted me to do it all the time... and I did the same as everyone else with how the accident forms are done etc.

Hmmm. So you all got fired? And most people don't think getting fired is amusing.

You're asking how you manage your CV. Don't you realise that claiming your employers standards were too high, that it isn't your fault you got dismissed, and that everyone else does it is very certainly not going to be much of an advertisement for you - and thinking it's funny will not impress?

Is this for real? Because it certainly isn't coming across that it is.

I understand what the OP means.

Do you to work in childcare or have you had enough? Retail isn!!!8217;t that hard and most employees in my experience have their own application forms.

Just be factual with your application. The place may have high standards and it just may not be the beat place for your to be the best employee at that particular childcare facility with those particular members of staff.
