Listed a couple more items last night and also am trying webuybooks as you can email them to ask them if they want to buy pre-ISBN books. I am waiting for their antiquarian department to get back to me.

Alas this all came to nothing as my books are of no interest to them. So back to the eBay drawing board! Been amending some more posts and have lots of them now bundled and going out as auctions to see if I can drum up some interest.

I would only include the first month of saving. after that you will be used to having to pay less and either saving that money or using it for something else.

but it's great when you can reduce your bills isn't it.

Been stressing over this a little bit and thought it through. What Aesop says is true, but since it's a saving on what I would have spent, I'll never see the money - it'll just escape a little more slowly.

On the other hand it's very real money, which will make life very much easier.

So I've split my spreadsheet up. I now have 3 more columns apart from teh ones which calculate my entries for this month.

They are "money saved", "Cash in" which add up to my monthly total. Then I have "Net for year". Into that column go things like the full amount of that saving over the year, (£423), stopping smoking (£1155), Swapping broadband providers (£300) and also the results of this challenge. This will be kept as a running total and the items will drop out after 12 months.

Amazingly the total of these swaps, and my sales this month total nearly £3000. That would be nearly ten pounds a day for the whole year !

I was feeling "ok" about how i was doing on this challenge - but now I'm really made up about the whole thing - that gets me pretty close to "Survival" and I still have 51 weeks left to make more ! :j

    Afternoon all

Firstly a big well done to all those already doing soo well in October :T :T

I've had a couple of interesting days this week so far.

My DS will not be able to visit us in November this year, as he wants to stay on Spanish territory so he can claim his government end-of-contract monies. He's saved it up for last couple of years but has to be there to claim it - he's suggested we meet in Spain for a week instead. So I've spent a good hour or three researching a visit for the end of November.

DH has managed to book a week's holibobs so I have found flights with Mr O'Leary (fingers xd) and accommodation in the centre of Valencia. We are off again on 25th November - more to look forward to eh ;) Managed to save a lovely £73 on the apartment by using a discount with b**king.com :j

Yesterday we received an email from the holiday camp peoples, asking if we want to proceed with our applications for next year. After some short correspondence we now have an interview on Friday 27th October - so everything xd for that :rotfl:

Finally - my yearly savings with the santa bank came to an end at the beginning of this month, giving me interest of £64 :j

Ok, taking on board Lynne's comments about making an all inclusive challenge that doesn't involve selling......

I quite like this - one of Martin's posts....something we can all do and shouldn't cost us the earth..... probably an email or the price of a stamp.

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/reclaim-lost-assets-free

    http://www.mylostaccount.org.uk/aboutus.htm

so before you all tell me, I don't have lost accounts, I have claimed all my bank/building society/savings accounts.....

Humour me. Give this a go. You can either download and print off the forms and post, or complete and send on line.

I did this years ago and found a santander (formerly Abbey National) account I used to have and had forgotten all about... it only had a small amount in it, but hey it was lost money! I also found an account one of my sister's had forgotten about. We share the same initials and the bank sent the letter with just the initial. My dad told me it was for me.. it wasn't. It was for my sister.

Anyhow, let's all have a go and see what results if any we achieve!

Well, I've put in my details....fingers crossed!!!

It sounds like people are doing pretty well so far this month. I tend to cash things out at the end of the month, so I now have a trickle of money coming in.

    October so far: £94.14 / Goal: £248

Checking in for this evening. Got 10p from Citizen me, only £3.64 from MoneyMagpie (have sent them a message as I thought it should be just over £5 and they don't tell you what items they had a problem with, which is rubbish) and also an eBay sale which I will add once I have posted tomorrow.

Spent time yesterday amending eBay stuff and lots is scheduled for tonight for a 10 day auction so fingers crossed I get some interest on these. Taking a break from sales as need to see what happens now, so spending the evening doing a few surveys as a change. Nearly up to payout on Vypr, but still no joy from OnePulse, although I have moved up a level.

Had a good week and made £167.37 matched betting, keep banging through the surveys and am getting close to draw outs on a few sites.

I think I have slight hording tendancies so am hoping to have a good clear out and clean up before crimbo, hopefully selling anything I can to boost the coffers as well. Got books all over, full shleves, in cupboards, boxed up in rooms and the loft, really need to get rid of a load.

Nothing from the RM surveys so I assume not going to be a quick join with them, will forget about it and if it finally ever starts up it will be a bonus then.
