Hi all,
We were due to fly back from Verona yesterday on Easyjet, however due to the strikes in Italy our flight was cancelled.
Checked on the app about an alternative and it wasnt until the following Thursday 6 days later.
Phoned them up and they said the same. Wait 6 days or look for another airline.
As the flight cancellations were Italy wide, other carriers had the same problems, only alternative flight with another airline were £900 and were just under 24 hours later. Not sure whether Easyjet were going to pay the difference i didnt want to pay this.
Seeking alternatives to a 6 day extended holiday and a £900 flight we managed to get a train from Verona to Nice in France and Easyjet flew us home today having provided the flights.
Total cost was £220 for the train and £100 for the one night hotel stay in Nice.
Is it possible to claim the £320 back?
If so, would it be best to go via Easyjet (cancellation wasnt their fault?) or travel insurance (£95 excess)?
Thanks
