Failed Reclaim from HSBC

Options
Hi
Hoping to get some advice.
I took out a £10,000 loan with HSBC in about 1998, which had PPI included in my monthly payments. The loan was declined initially as I was only employed part-time, but then manually approved in branch.
Through the Resolver site I started the PPI reclaim process, including uploading of bank statements showing the loan, but having escalated it to the Ombudsman I was sadly unsuccessful. I was unable to find the original loan agreement sadly. The ombudsman said that I couldn’t prove I had PPI and HSBC couldn’t prove or dis-prove, so they found in HSBC’s favour.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated, or is it a lost cause?
